Status of COVID 19 Testing at
Dodge Park and The Oasis at Dodge Park

Update for May 23, 2020 :
Due to the fact that we had one employee tested positive at Dodge Park last week, we run another sample employees tests of 27 employees through UMass lab on Tuesday.
The result came back with 2 employees that were tested positive for COVID-19. Those employees has no symptoms.

Based on the new finding that 2 of our staff came back positive, we decided to re-test all Dodge Park residents and employees through
a private lab - Ammon Lab as this is the only option currently available. (National Guard will no longer come to test our residents and staff since we completed base line tetsing in Mid April).

As of this morning we got the result that all residents except one which is still pending came back Negative (Thanks God).

The rest of Dodge Park employees tested on Friday and we should have the employee results by Tuesday.

We are still pushing the state to allow and cover the cost of weekly testing of staff. So far no decision was made by the state as they still trying to finish the initial base line among other long term care facility. We are the only one that doing a full 2nd round of base line testing as we truly believe that testing , and more testing is the key to keep the residents safe.

We are fully aware that we are at the beginning of the allergy season. Regardless,  any employee that show symptoms like sore throat, cough, allergy, GI, muscle pain, fever or any other unusual symptoms is asked to be seen by his/her PCP and go to re-test. All new hire must undergo COVID-19 test. Continue testing heavily or regular base to ensure the residents are safe.

NEWS
We partnered with new lab called Ammon Lab in order to streamline residents retesting when needed as it becoming very difficult to get the state to return and retest our residents. The National Guard will not come back as they already tested all our staff and residents.
As we all know it is very critical to repeat those test on regular base to rule out the existing of COVID-19 among residents and staff.
We are planning for the 2nd round of residents testing at the Oasis at Dodge Park on the week of May 25, 2020 as Dodge Park residents already been tested this week.

We tried to approach the state to continue offer regular testing like the state of New York currently doing (In NY all long term care facility allow to retest all residents and staff twice a week)in all the long term care facilities, but so far, the answer we get is that his option is not available.
I am asking you all to contact your state representatives and senators and try to convince them to support regular testing in long term care facility.
CDC just release this week the recommendations to test all long term care employees weekly but this was not yet implemented by the MA DPH. Will keep you posted once we have more information.
