Good day clubs, schools and instructors:
As part of the ongoing work on promoting sailing, Sail Canada and Ontario Sailing are working together to get more people into the sport.
Sail Canada has been able to partner with the Redpath Waterfront Festival June 29-July 1, 2019
and been given space to promote and offer introductory sailing to the public.
I am turning to our community to see if you would be interested in supplying a keelboat and instructor for a half day, full day or the entire event.
Ontario Sailing will have a staff person onsite as the dock person to help load/unload, hand out literature and in general, promote the sport.
I would see us offering 15-20 minute try it sessions, with as many sessions being pre-booked online through Redpath's website as possible (more details to follow once we attend a meeting next week).
I myself have done this at the old In-Water Boat Show at Ontario Place. We had boats stagger their timing to load and unload at the dock.
Sail Canada has committed to giving clothing to those instructors that are able to help. The clubs/schools will be promoted on the website and in the print materials available at the event.
If you are interested in participating, I am asking you to forward me your preferred time slots (at the moment lets say three sessions a day for the three days; morning, afternoon and evening).
There, of course, will be no fee to participate as you will be supplying a boat and your labour. We will work towards any other promotion in this opportunity.
