From President Frank H. Wu:

Our hearts go out to the victims of two deadly shootings this weekend. Yesterday, in Brown University, two people were killed and nine injured when a shooter opened fire in a classroom; and today, in Sydney, Australia, shooters killed at least 11 people in a targeted attack at a Jewish gathering on the beach celebrating the first night of Hannukah. Our profound thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the wider communities who have experienced such unspeakable horror and trauma at what should be a joyful time of the year.

I would like to remind Queens College students that Counseling Services is available to meet with you. To reach them, call 718-997-5420 and leave a message with your name, CUNY ID number, and phone number. Calls will be returned on the same business day between 9 am and 5 pm. Alternatively, students can email the same information to counselingservices@qc.cuny.edu or visit the center's office on the first floor of Frese Hall weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm. Faculty and staff can get assistance through BeWell by CCA (CUNY’s employee assistance provider)—go to ccaplatform.com/go/cuny and enter your first name, an email address, and college to create an account.

Finally, please take a moment to review an active shooter preparedness video produced by the Office of Communications and Marketing in collaboration with the Office of Public Safety.

Stay safe and well.
