A Christ-centered community,

Dear OLMC Parents,

He is risen; He is risen indeed! Even though we are no longer in the Easter octave celebration, we are still in the Easter season. The Church is so good and wise to give us 50 days to celebrate Christ’s resurrection from the dead. I hope that in this Easter season, we will be able to engage more in spiritual reflection and spend extended time with our loved ones. Pope Francis is encouraging the faithful to make small acts of kindness and love towards those with whom we are living closely during these days of quarantine. Recently, our Holy Father remarked, “We must rediscover the concreteness of little things, small gestures of attention we can offer those close to us, our family, our friends. We must understand that in small things lies our treasure.” May our time spent in quarantine help us to unleash more love into the world as we perform countless acts of kindness towards our family members.

Recently I was thinking of additional ways OLMC School can support our beloved families during these uncertain times, and my first thought revolved around relaxing the uniform policies that were established for next year. If you recall, last year OLMC School partnered with Lands’ End as our primary uniform provider. The original plan was to have this first year of 2019-20 be an amnesty year in which the students were permitted to wear the old OLMC logoed uniform items (vests, sweatshirts, fleeces). Moving forward, the plan was for the amnesty year to end in June 2020; beginning in August, every student would only be allowed to wear the new OLMC logo on their uniforms. As we transition to the 2020-21 year, I am more than happy to extend this amnesty year so that the students would have another year to wear the old logoed uniform items. This way, parents will be able to save some money and not have to purchase new logoed material. I hope that this decision will somehow provide some financial relief for our families.

On another note, I am pleased to announce that next year’s registration process will begin sometime late next week. The registration link will be sent to all families via email, so I ask that you please keep an eye out for these emails so our registration process can run smoothly. Thank you!

Lastly, I would like to thank the parents who attended our parent Zoom meetings last week and who filled out the parent survey that helped us shape our presentation. After seeing so many faces, I realize how much the administration truly misses you all! It was good to see you all again, even if it was from a distance and through an online platform. For those parents who were unable to attend, the slides to that presentation can be accessed here: Click here to view.

I pray that the light, peace, and joy of the Easter season be yours in abundance this week.

In our victorious Lord,

Sister Maria Benedicta, O.P.
