February 19, 2020
Dear OLMC Parents,

We are officially over half-way through 3rd quarter at this point, and the season of Lent is just a week ahead of us.  I would like to invite you all to our all-school Ash Wednesday Mass that will take place on Feb. 26 at 8 am in the main Church.  Our students will be receiving ashes at that time, and it would be a great opportunity for you to join us as we begin this Lenten season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.  Speaking of almsgiving, this would be an opportune time for you to remind your children about the Church giving envelopes they received earlier in the year. There is an envelope for the students to turn in for each week of the year, and so they are welcome to place their monetary sacrifices in the offertory basket when it is passed around in the pews.

Next week, our annual spring book fair will begin.  OLMC School is delighted to host Blue Ribbon Book Fairs once again as our main vendor, and this time this company will be offering STEM kits as well as quality books for sale.  Students will be frequenting the Book Fair at different scheduled times throughout the week, and it will stay open during the evening on Fine Arts Night next Thursday. Just a reminder that we will be having a planned 2 hour late start the next morning on Friday, Feb. 28.

Lastly, I would like to thank all of the parent volunteers who assisted with our St. Valentine’s parties last week.  The students thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and I am grateful for the spirit of generosity that permeates our school community.  May the Lord continue to bless you for the donation of your time and talent!

Blessings on your week,
Sister Maria Benedicta, O.P.

The life of a disciple has three stages that
are continuously being renewed. We need
to ENCOUNTER Jesus everyday. We
EQUIP ourselves as we grow in the faith.
We ENGAGE the world around us by
sharing the love of God. Each night of our
missio n we’ll explore how we can move
through these stages and become engaged disciples of Jesus.

Jim Beckman serves as the executive director of Evangelization and Catechesis for the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City. Jim also is the executive director of ImpactCenter, a nonprofit dedicated to leadership development in the Catholic Church and serves as an adjunct professor for the Augustine Institute, teaching on leadership and discipleship. He and his wife, Meg, live in Oklahoma City with their five children.
