A Christ-centered community,
provides excellence in education
to meet the needs of the whole child.
September 11, 2019
Dear OLMC Parents,

If you have been listening to the local news recently, you are certainly aware that the spring 2019 ILEARN scores were officially released last week.  Our Lady of Mount Carmel School’s results are truly stunning! Overall, we ranked #3 in the state for our English/Language Arts scores. This means that Our Lady of Mount Carmel School is third in the state of Indiana for English/Language Arts when compared with all other Indiana public, private, Catholic, and charter schools.  What a feat! Our math percentages also ran quite high. Overall, the number of students who received a math score of “Above Proficient” actually exceeded the number of students who reached the “At Proficient” score. Furthermore, after analyzing our Social Studies and Science scores, we discovered that the majority of the OLMC students who were tested were not only proficient but scored “Above Proficient” in these disciplines.  Needless to say, the OLMC school community is incredibly proud of our students who work diligently each day and challenge themselves to persevere through their studies, as difficult as they may be at times. Great job, OLMC!

I would be completely remiss, however, if I did not mention how proud I am of the parents of these children who support OLMC school with their partnership each day.  We all know that the students are happiest and do their best when they are personally convinced of the fact that their parents and the school staff are working together as a team, always laboring selflessly to meet their daily needs.  Thank you, parents, for providing your children with a firm spiritual and academic foundation and for fostering a positive work ethic and an openness to continued learning. We could not educate your children in such an effective manner without you!  May God bless you abundantly in your vocation as the primary educators of your children.

As an administrator, I am so grateful to the team of teachers who bless us with their gifts and talents each day.  I cannot remark often enough that these teachers on our staff are an A-team group of professional educators who are deeply engaged in the mission of our Catholic school.  They invest their whole selves into this noble vocation of teaching, and I am exceptionally fortunate for the opportunity to work with them in the fulfillment of our mission.

Lastly, I am so grateful to the Lord who has blessed OLMC abundantly in myriad ways in the last 63 years of our existence.  He is certainly never outdone in His generosity. May we never grow tired of reflecting on His goodness and always maintain a spirit of thanksgiving towards Him in our hearts and in our minds.

In the love of Christ,
Sister Maria Benedicta, O.P.
