Dear Friends,
Though life may appear linear, it rarely is. Our birthdays may number off sequentially, but little else of the human experience follows such a straightforward trajectory. We take two steps forward, then one step back. Or we go so far in one direction that we come full circle and end up in the same place, but just from the opposite direction. There is a cyclical nature to life. It comes to us in seasons.
And the same is true with faith. We don’t just progress through the life of faith as if it’s a subject to learn or a course to run. Sometimes we have to return to the starting point, and sometimes we have to peer beyond our current place and context. Every season of faith has its blessings and its challenges, and every season of faith comes around again and again.
This Sunday in worship, we are starting a new series on faith titled “Seasons.” We’re looking at the blessings that come up with each season in a life of faith and considering the challenges too. Plus, we’re asking what it means that each season of faith comes around again, sooner or later.
Whatever season of faith you may find yourself in, you are always welcome at Missouri United Methodist Church. See you this Sunday!
In Christ,
Daniel
