CALLING ALL ADULTS WHO HAVE A FREE WEEK THIS JUNE!

Through our social media blasts we have secured a few more teens to come with us to West Virginia June 15-22. We are still quite a few people short though. We are looking to make one crew an all-adult crew. We would need just two more adults to make this happen.

Can you help us out? Please talk to Julie: jcpoboe@msn.com or cell: (630) 247-1799

John Fasbender Celebration of Life

Please note: The Visitation and Celebration of Life for John Fasbender has been rescheduled from Sunday, May 26 to Wednesday, May 29. Visitation will begin at 3 pm and the Celebration of Life at 4 pm. Don't forget to wear brightly-colored clothing --Hawaiian shirts/dresses even better!

Do you know someone who would like to work with our youngest children in the nursery on Sunday mornings? We have a paid position of Nursery Assistant available to work with Dr. Greg in managing the nursery care during worship. CHURCH COUNCIL

  • Our next Church Council meeting will now be Tuesday, June 11.
  • Due to the busyness of this time of year, we've decided to combine our May and June meetings.
  • The agenda will be posted in the Messenger prior to the meeting.
  • As always, our Council meetings are hybrid, and all are welcome to attend in person or on zoom.

MISSIONS/CHURCH IN SOCIETY NEWS

SHOWER POWER!

"Incredible! ALL of this?," gasped the World Relief warehouse worker accepting our van-load of household goods this past Friday, May 17.

We assured him that yes indeed, all of the goods were intended for new immigrants and asylum seekers, and had been donated by some very generous, creative friends and members of our church. So as we transferred new comforters, baking pans, baking sheets, mixing bowls, complete dish sets, bed sheets, kitchen utensils galore, paper goods, waste baskets, frying pans, and dutch ovens we explained the "back story."

It seems that Jean Eakins' son and fiance feel that new wedding shower items might be better used by those whose needs are greater then theirs. World Relief was a perfect fit! Shower guests were given the list of World Relief Welcome Kit items prior to the shower. And how they did respond! What a blessing to work with UMCGer's and their friends and family, who put the needs of others before themselves and who respond quietly, yet boldly, within a world much in need of Christ's love.

The generous gifts accumulated are off to World Relief refugees
