Prayers of Intercession
Reminded of God’s gracious and abundant love, we offer our prayers, confident that God hears us.
A brief silence.
Guide scientists and researchers studying responses to the climate crisis so that all your creation may inspire us to give thanks for your great goodness. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.
Encourage those in positions of responsibility and leadership to attend to the needs and concerns of workers. Enable them to create environments of support, fair wages, and team building, that all would have a sense of the humanity and dignity that you, O God, desire for all. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.
Encourage any who cannot work or who cannot work a full day with the truth that their value comes from your everlasting love for them. Provide for those who are injured, ill, and for all in any need.
Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.
Strengthen all those in this congregation whose labor and advocacy serve the needs of others in the community. Inspire all in this congregation to support community endeavors with our time and talents. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.
Comfort us with the promise of the resurrection as we remember all our loved ones whose desire to be with Jesus is fulfilled. Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great.
Grant the prayers we have offered, what we have forgotten to ask, and whatever else you see that we need. We ask this in Jesus’ name.
Amen

2027 Stewardship
The beginning of our Stewardship season is right around the corner. This year our theme is I Will Serve! This theme recognizes that the members of Messiah are generous in more than one way. We are grateful for how this congregation gives time, talents, and money to support the ministry of Messiah. As you prayerfully consider your financial intent for 2027, we invite you to consider what other ways you can invest in this congregation.
To help your discernment we are hosting a Ministry Fair after worship each Sunday from September 13th until October 4th. Various ministries, committees, and task forces will be spread throughout the building with a demonstration of some of the ways they contribute to the mission and ministry of this congregation. You’ll receive a passport with spaces to check off. When you’ve visited all the ministry sites you’ll get a prize! And, even better, you’ll know all the ways that members are contributing to the work of Messiah.
Thank you for all the ways that you give to this place. And I can’t wait for this fall as we continue to say, “I Will Serve!”
Peace,
Pr. Bridget
Fall Schedule:
September 27th and October 4th – Stewardship and Ministry Fair continue
Be sure to visit all the Ministry stations to win a prize!
October 11th – Intent Cards are due
During worship we will receive and bless intent cards for 2027. Cards that have been mailed in or returned to the office will be blessed too.

Fall Faith Formation
Faith Formation for youth in grades 5-12 starts again this fall! Faith in Action – our program for youth preparing to affirm their baptism – will meet after worship on the first and third Sunday of the month. This year, high school students planning on attending the Youth Gathering in 2027 will join them on the first Sunday of each month for a joint Bible study as we learn about how God calls us to Imagine More! Talk to Pr. Bridget if you have any questions.
Upcoming dates:
October 4 – joint Faith in Action and HS Bible Study
October 18 – Faith in Action
October 25 – Affirmation of Baptism in Worship, followed by celebration after worship

Gather, Grow and Serve (3rd Tuesday)
Thank you to those who attended the September 15th Gather, Grow and Serve meeting. Once again we were able to complete some tasks around our church. Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 20th from 9:30 - 11:30am. Please share with others and invite them to join us for new opportunities to share together and accomplish some work around the church.

October 4th Family Choir
Thank you to all who sang “Beautiful Savior” on September 6th. I heard so many positive comments from congregation members about how beautiful it sounded! What a great way to start our new season of Family Choir! In October, we will join our voices to sing “Shout to the Lord.” This is one of my favorite songs. (You’ll find the music below). It’s a simple song that reminds us that God’s promise is sure. It also reminds us that there is no one like our Savior! So come join me. Raise your voices and Shout to the Lord!
Looking ahead to November: we will raise our voices once again as we sing “Holy, Holy, Holy.” And in December, we will Go and tell it on the Mountain!
May God continue to bless you!

A Request from the Care Team
In 2022 the Care Team initiated the monthly gathering/meal for senior adults at Messiah, which became known as First Tuesday. The luncheon gathering has become a sustained ministry of Messiah with a monthly attendance of 25-30 people. The original intent was to invite the whole congregation to be involved in the ministry by providing the meal, however, that proved a challenge for many who worked during the day! The Care Team is hoping to re-visit the idea of the whole congregation being able to be involved ~ this time in a simpler way. Twice a year those not involved in Care Team or the attendees are invited to provide a casserole to be served at First Tuesday. The casseroles would be brought on the Sunday that precedes the luncheon. The Care Team is hoping to have a casserole lunch on Tuesday, October 6, with casseroles dropped off on Sunday, October 4. Would 5-6 people be willing to do that? Sign-up at the Care Team table during the Stewardship Ministry Fair, on September 13, 20, 27.
Thank You!
Pastor Susan
