Messimer takes early lead in WSCGA Junior Girl's State Amateur Championship
June 27-29, 2022
It was a great day at Arcadian Shores Golf Club without a cloud in the sky and the course perfectly manicured for some great golf. Playing in the rabbit group of the day was Maddison Messimer who posted a career round of seven under 65 to take the lead. In her process of going low, Messimer carded 9 birdies and two bogies for the day. Just nine shots back sitting in second place are Taylor Reaves from Shaftsbury Glen Golf Club and Olivia Roberts from Chesnee Country Club. Tied for forth with a 76 are Mia Grey from Carolinas YOC Pee Dee, Olivia Pellerin from Holly Tree Country Club, and Olivia Ireland out of Carolinas YOC Upstate.

A total of 40 birdies were made today in this strong field of 22 players competing for the WSCGA Junior Girls State Championship, the honor to represent South Carolina in the Georgia - South Carolina Girls Challenge Matches, and an invite to the coveted Blade Championship at Thornblade Club hosted by SCJGA. Round two will begin tomorrow at 1:00pm off the first hole with the leaders in the final group at 2:10pm.
