Meta-Sizzle by Meta Resting

Do you know anyone who finds it difficult to be quiet?
Do you know anyone that has trouble resting?
What about both at the same time...resting in the silence?

If I could point at myself and type at the same time I would! This is something which on the surface seems so easy, yet this is an acquired skill that thankfully I have grown into over the years. And soon I will get an even better opportunity to explore the deeper meaning of rest and silence.

I know what some of you may be thinking: But, Rev. James, you survived 10 days of cross-legged meditation at Vipassana, you're good! Maybe so, and though Mindfulness is a daily practice that I value, Meta-Sizzling from the art and science of Meta-Resting is something I can't say I have mastered. Not yet.

What does sizzling from Meta-Resting mean for all of us in our own spiritual practice? More than one would think, and at first the words seem contradictory. We will look into it together this Sunday at Unity of Dallas.

Confucius said, "A seed grows with no sound. But a tree falls with a huge noise. Destruction has noise. But creation is quiet. This is the power of silence. Grow silently."

Of course, when we live a balanced life we are able to discern the right time to speak our mind versus the silence that Confucius spoke of.

Unity Co-founder, Myrtle Fillmore, often referred to just "resting and going to that secret place of most high." When we become proficient at this practice we gain energy, inspiration and insight to do the work that is ours to do. Or in the case of my upcoming sabbatical: Refresh My Calling

We all need a mini or major Sabbatical from time to time, right? Even Genesis speaks of God resting! Unfortunately, In our go-go-go world, we think: I don't have time to slow down! Perhaps we can ask ourselves, Really, is that true?

Sunday, I will look forward to sharing with you more about my own upcoming sabbatical and my own efforts of releasing the paradigm of: go-go-go and instead resting by going deep, deep, deep.

Let’s Thrive,
Rev. James
On Sunday, July 25th, we will experience "The Bistro of Life” at Unity of Dallas! This is a very special Sunday and may be the most unique, comical service ever, or at least during Reverend James’s five plus years here as he prepares to go on a deep dive for his sabbatical.

We will also have croissants and coffee ahead of the service beginning at 10 AM!

Please come celebrate this “recipe for life” production with special music and excellent thespian performances!
