Our mission is to help our students grow academically, socially, & physically to become well-rounded responsible citizens.
School Wide Behavior Expectations: Be Positive, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, Be a Problem Solver

Our goal is to move all students up one proficiency level in ELA and Math on
state testing. Students who are already at the Advanced level will maintain that level of performance.
During the 2015-2016 school year teachers will use Fountas and Pinnell data to design differentiated instruction.
We will maintain a campus that provides a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment for students.

Arrival & Dismissal
In order to provide the safest arrival and dismissal, please adhere to the procedures for arriving to school as well as departure from our campus.

CARPOOL REMINDERS

Carpool line is supervised by teachers beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 8:30  a.m. Students may be dropped off as early as 8:00 a.m. and  must be dropped in carpool line and enter the building through the gate on Lake Avenue.

Vehicles should not park or be left unattended in the line during carpool, 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

When the bell rings at 8:30 a.m., any students arriving will need to be walked to the office, accompanied by a parent, in order to receive a tardy slip. There will be NO TEACHERS on duty after the 8:30 a.m. bell.

The carpool sign, displaying student name, should be displayed clearly from the rearview mirror. The sign should remain until the child is inside the car. If there is no sign, your child will not be called. Pull ahead as soon as your child is safely in the vehicle.

If you "cut" the line, your child will not be called until the line has ended.

Cell Phone Usage: According to Louisiana state law, while driving through a school zone, it is unlawful to use your cell phone or mobile device EXCEPT for an emergency.

Safety

Students have been informed that all IDs should be clipped to the uniform shirt and/or dress, eliminating lanyards as an acceptable part of the uniform for safety concerns. Thank you for adhering to this policy.

Louisiana State Law requires that we have multiple safety drills, including a fire drill as well an intruder drill within the first month of school. We are in the process of planning our drills, and we anticipate successful exercises, as al ways. We will also review safety procedures with the students, in various environments.

 Accounting

Any checks that you send are to have the originator's name, address, and telephone included on the check. Also, write the student's name and purpose of payment on the check.

Please be aware that childcare does NOT accept cash, asking that all funds are submitted by check and/or money order. Teachers will issue receipts to parents for payment for classroom supplies, field trips, t-shirt sales, or other such class events. These receipts are to bear the designated Jefferson Parish Public School Board logo. If you receive a receipt from a teacher and it does not have that logo, please notify Ms. Babin. You will not get a receipt for dress down days, and Child Care uses a computerized receipt.

Please check carefully over the JPPSS calendar above.

We are a community of "Bucket fillers!"

Have your kids told you about being a bucket filler?
Have you wondered what that was about?

Through our schools PBIS programs, such as the "Mustang Store" and the "Bucket Filler" program, students are encouraged to Be Positive, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, and Be a Problem Solver.

One way to support our PBIS initiatives, we are becoming a school community of BUCKET FILLERS!  The Bucket Filler concept is based on the book "Have You Filled a Bucket Today? A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids." written by Carol McCloud and illustrated by David Messing.

Our goal is to create a safer, kinder, and more respectful school culture where children are eager and ready to learn.  Student can "fill" their classroom bucket with "water drop" notes of kindness or positive affirmations for other students.  Our hope is to make bucket filling a way of life and become bucket filling families!  The "Bucket Fill-osophy" reinforces the importance of kindness (bucket filling) and the negative impact of being unkind (bucket dipping).

Pull-Tabs for Charity
Pull for the House

One of the easiest ways to help the House               is by collecting pull tabs!
This important program helps fund various household expenses at Ronald McDonald House. Families pay $10 per night for their stay, but it actually costs the house $68 per night to house each family. The pull tab program helps supplement those costs, including buying food for the house pantry and providing gas for the house van.   Ronald McDonald Houses collect pop tabs instead of entire aluminum cans because it's more hygienic to store tabs than cans, and collection and storage is easier.
