Noticing my noticing

What we focus on expands. Once we commit to noticing something-anything-we begin to feel like there is more of it.  This works pretty much the same no matter what you focus on.  If I decide to notice yellow cars, I will be amazed at how many yellow cars there are (mine will still be red).

Sometimes we let this operate a little unconsciously.  Once I start noticing the errors in grammar, they are everywhere.  I can become annoyed if I allow the grammar police to patrol unchecked.  Does NO ONE have this class in school?  My noticing becomes a source of judgment and agitation.  Once I notice (observe) this about my noticing practice, I have a choice.  I can continue on this path or I can commit to noticing something I'd like to have expand in my world.  I can notice acts of kindness.  I can notice butterflies.  I can notice all the little things I have to be grateful for.  I can notice how often I think of a friend and a connection is made.

This week, pay attention to what it is you focus on and how that affects your body and mental attitude.  If you don't like how you feel or what you believe is expanding in your world, commit to noticing something you'd like to expand.  Shift your focus and begin to see a new world.               Rev Joy

ANNOUNCING
Our New
Intention Circle

Meeting the last Sunday of the month

Join Mary Etta Lea and Beverly Sullivan in the sanctuary after service for an additional time of prayer.  Here is their process: We come together to hand over our concerns about the world and offer our desire to be of service to Humanity and Earth.  After a brief statement of intent, we invite in Divine Presence and then sit in silent mediation or prayer for 15 - 30 minutes.  People may leave silently when inwardly guided to do so.

The first Intention Circle will be September 29th.

ULV in partnership with LCC

Last spring, The Lehigh Conference of Churches received a grant to help those who have Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). This program provides support for those engaged in treatment and recovery to prevent overdose-related deaths. Many of the people being helped have young children or are pregnant and need baby and toddler clothing and supplies for their children.

ULV will be collecting  diapers (except for newborn size), formula, baby wipes and shampoo as well as baby and toddler clothing. New or gently used clothing would be welcome. The collection box is inside the doors as you enter from the back parking lot through October 13 .
Thank you to Teré O'Malley for taking on coordination of this service project.

FIND OUR FIRE

Sunday, September 29th our Sunday Service will be an exploration to find the fire within Unity of Lehigh Valley and within each one of us.  Are you ready to come alive?  Are you open to be transformed?  Plan now to join us at 10am.

Have you designated your charity on AmazonSmile as Unity of Lehigh Valley?  We appreciate you!

What are you grateful for?

Karen Esbensen would like to thank Joyce Buchman for the "cup of gratitude".  Joyce said she wanted to give it to me just "because".  That is the best reason to receive a gift, just "because".  Thank you so much, Joyce, for your consistent kindness.

Ginny Stanglein is grateful for the upcoming marriage of her son Nate Stanglein and Chrissie Mondschein.  We join Ginny in holding a vision of a delightful beginning on September 7th to their new life together!

Kennedy Spencer would like to express gratitude for the support and encouragement she received for her trip to Spain.   She would like to send an extra thank you to Rev. Joy for allowing her to share her experiences after service.   She sends much appreciation to all who attended to hear about her journey, her lessons, and the impact of her trip.

Jen Hertwig would like to thank all who stay for healing services.
It is a really beautiful way to connect with fellow congregants who also seek harmony and balance.  Your participation is appreciated!

If you are grateful for something at ULV, send a message to the office: unitylv@rcn.com
