The MetroList leadership team and staff join in mourning the passing of long-time MetroList employee and former CEO Rick Trevino. Rick passed away on May 5, 2023 after a multi-year battle with cancer.

Rick began his career with MetroList Services not long after graduating from California State University-Stanislaus, where he obtained a Bachelor of Administration degree with concentrations in Business Computer Information Systems and Management.

During his 32 years with MetroList, Rick was instrumental in building, supporting, and managing the technical and data infrastructure that serves 22,500 local real estate professionals. From his humble start as a technical support representative with his rise in ranks to Vice President of Information Technology, Rick built an impressive team of network administrators and technical support specialists.

In February 2022, Rick was selected to serve as CEO of MetroList. During his tenure, Rick focused his energies on expanding the data-sharing relationship with the NORCAL MLS Alliance, adding new benefits for customers, and, most importantly, staying committed to delivering the highest level of technical and customer support service to subscribers.

“Rick has been an integral part of the MetroList team that has built a trusted and reliable real estate Multiple Listing Service data system that tens of thousands of real estate professionals depend on to operate their individual businesses,” said Dave Howe, CEO and President of MetroList. “His ability to review, evaluate, plan, and meticulously manage complex projects enabled our customers to receive new products in record turnaround times,” added Howe.

Rick was among the leading MLS IT professionals engaged in the Real Estate Standards Organization, also known as RESO. Rick served as chair of the RESO Payloads Workgroup and a charter member of RESO. Under Rick’s leadership, MetroList was the first MLS in the country to achieve RESO Platinum Certification, DD 1.4 in 2015.

Rick earned the CMLX2 designation from the Council of Multiple Listing Services.

In December 2022, Rick stepped down as CEO of MetroList to concentrate on his health and spend more time with his two sons and wife, Mary, to whom he is deeply devoted.

In memory of Rick, MetroList has established a fund with the Stanislaus Community Foundation to provide Modesto High School graduates with scholarship opportunities. Because of Rick’s love for his high school alma mater, his ability to see the potential in others, and his belief that mentorship will help students become the best versions of themselves, this scholarship is the perfect means to carry on Rick’s legacy.

In lieu of flowers, we invite you to join MetroList in donating to the Rick Trevino Scholarship Fund through the Stanislaus Community Foundation.
