Tagging along with his father, an MWD inspector, to Skinner and Live Oak Reservoir in the early 1970s,
Greg Widman
had an opportunity many kids dream of. He got to see heavy construction equipment up close as well as pipeline construction in progress. No Tonka trucks here – he experienced the real thing.
Those visits instilled a respect for the District that was further nurtured by talks at the dinner table. His stepmother was also a Water Treatment Operator at La Verne and later worked in the Water Quality Lab.
Greg
is now a Planner/ Scheduler for the Eastern Conveyance & Distribution Region, based at the Wadsworth Pumping/Hydro-generating Facility at Diamond Valley Lake. He plans maintenance activities for the distribution system and helps coordinate shutdowns. He also coordinates emergency response for the Eastern Region and supports Real Property in managing revenue leases, entry permits, and other issues.
Greg
followed a career path familiar to many in the water industry. He started with the City of La Verne and then worked for Three Valleys MWD. With solid training under his belt, he began his career at Met as a Treatment Operator at Skinner, supporting a system he watched being built 20 years before.
