Mews News:
Golden Years & Second Chances
| |
November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month, and it's the perfect time to give a senior cat a second chance at love!
Meet Cecilia, a floofy 11-year-old torbie from the Hayward Animal Shelter. She came to Nine Lives three weeks ago, malnourished and suffering from painful dental issues. Thanks to the compassionate care she received from our veterinary team, she’s now happy, healthy, and ready to find a forever family who will cherish her gentle heart.

Rufus is a distinguished 13-year-old flame point who was adopted from us as a kitten many years ago. When his owner recently moved to assisted living, we welcomed him back with open arms.
He's a sweet and affectionate soul who is eager to share his heart with someone special and find companionship once again.
| |
|
Senior cats like Cecilia and Rufus are often overlooked, but they make some of the most devoted companions. If you’re ready to welcome a wise and loving friend into your life, consider adopting a senior cat!
Visit our Adoption Center this weekend and help Cecilia, Rufus, and our other kitties experience the greatest gift of all: a family to call their own.

As our team continues to navigate Kitten Season, even this late in the year, I want to take a moment to shine a light on another important part of our work: our adult cats, who often wait much longer to find their forever homes.
One of those adult cats is Shelby, a resilient three-year-old tabby who spent 206 days with us before finding her perfect family.
Shelby came to us from the Stockton Animal Shelter in March, malnourished and needing serious medical attention, including extensive dental surgery, around-the-clock care, and plenty of patience and love.
| |
During her time with us, she formed a special bond with Shmisty, a beautiful two-year-old tabby who you may remember from our August issue of Mews News. Together, they shared comfort and companionship while waiting for their forever homes.
Three weeks ago, Shelby’s wait came to an end when Larry and his family spotted her in our Adoption Center and felt an instant connection. It was one of those heartwarming moments that makes our work so fulfilling.
Shelby went home, completing her journey with us in the most beautiful way — just look at the joy on Larry's face!
| |
|
Now, as Shelby embarks on her new life, Shmisty remains with us, waiting to meet her forever family. While her journey may take a little longer, we’re committed to providing her — and every cat in our care — the support, love, and medical attention she deserves, no matter how long it takes.
Shmisty is still waiting for her forever home 💜
Today, I'm asking for your help to support Shmisty and our other adult cats as they wait for their forever families. Your donations allow us to provide vital medical care, a safe shelter, and the compassion each cat needs until they find their perfect match.
We know Shmisty’s family is out there, and we’re grateful for every contribution that helps us provide a safe and loving home until the day she finds her own.
Thank you for being an essential part of this lifesaving journey.
