Mews News:

Louis' Lifeline

Louis was in rough shape when he came to us from the Stockton Animal Shelter earlier this year. He was jaundiced, vomiting, suffering from a blood parasite, and had wounds on his face. We knew this eight-year-old gentle giant needed urgent help, and we were determined to give him the care and love he deserved.

Over the next several weeks, we conducted blood tests, provided medication and fluids, and showered him with lots of love. Slowly but surely, Louis regained his health and was ready for his second chance.

All that remained was to find him the forever home he longed for.

For the next eight months, Louis patiently waited to meet his forever family. He spent most of his time at our Adoption Center but enjoyed a few temporary shelter breaks courtesy of our foster network. Now we’re happy to report that Louis is a foster fail! One of his fosters fell in love and decided to make Louis a permanent member of their family.

His owner reports that Louis is a wonderful companion and is thriving in his new home. He loves taking naps, playing with toys, and cozy snuggles — especially during study sessions. His life has completely turned around, and he’s now living the happy and healthy life he deserves.

Louis' story is just one of many success stories we've had the privilege of witnessing this year. To help us create more happy endings, please consider making a donation today.

Cat's Whiskers Club

We're proud to launch the Cat's Whiskers Club, a special recognition program for our generous donors who support Nine Lives with cumulative gifts of $1,000 or more in a calendar year.

Cat's Whiskers supporters will enjoy exclusive benefits, including an annual thank you event, a behind-the-scenes tour with the Executive Director or a board member, optional in-shelter signage recognition, and access to a dedicated concierge for assistance and inquiries.

For donors who give $5,000 or more, there are additional perks such as the opportunity to name a litter of kittens and an exclusive cat enrichment training session.

We are reaching out to our Cat’s Whiskers supporters now. If you're interested in joining or have any questions, please contact Stacy Guidice, our Cat's Whiskers Club Coordinator, at stacy@ninelivesfoundation.org.

And if you're considering a larger year-end gift, we invite you to become a Cat's Whiskers Matchmaker. By doing so, your donation will be doubled, allowing us to save twice as many cats! Contact Stacy Guidice at the email address above to learn more.

We're immensely grateful to our Cat’s Whiskers supporters for being true heroes to the cats and kittens in our care.

Save the Date for Giving Mewsday!

Giving Mewsday — our version of Giving Tuesday — is coming up on November 28th, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It’s the purrfect time to help save homeless and at-risk cats and kittens with your gift to Nine Lives.

Last year, an incredible $3.1 billion was donated to nonprofit organizations and other community groups on Giving Tuesday. That’s a lot of good going on in the world!

This year, your donation will have an even greater impact. Thanks to the generous support of The JEM Project and the Nine Lives Board, every dollar you donate — up to $15,000 — will be matched! Stay tuned for more information next week about this exciting opportunity to double the lifesaving power of your contribution.

Be a part of this magical day of generosity and join the Nine Lives family of supporters making a difference for Bay Area cats and kittens.

Give Now!

Don't want to wait? Be one of our first Giving Mewsday donors and watch your gift go twice as far! Thank you for caring… and for giving.

Can you believe the holiday season is almost here? I guess time flies when you’re saving lives! Last month, I spoke about a major milestone: our 3,000th spay and neuter surgery of 2023. This month I come to you with even MORE successes from our small and mighty rescue!

Surpassing Last Year's Surgical Success!

Our dedicated team has worked tirelessly over the past 11 months, and together, we've already surpassed the total number of surgeries performed at our clinic last year (3,425 in 2022). This achievement means that thousands of cats in our local area and beyond have been spayed or neutered and vaccinated — leading to fewer unwanted litters, healthier cats, and safer cat communities.

Your support has been instrumental in making this happen, and we are deeply grateful for each and every one of you. Please continue to support our mission by spreading the word about our low-cost spay and neuter clinic to your friends, family, and neighbors. Together, we can break the heartbreaking cycle of mass displacement and euthanasia that plagues homeless cats and kittens.

Rescuing Over 350 Kittens!

We set out with an ambitious goal to rescue 250 kittens this season. With your help, we not only achieved our goal but surpassed it by over 100! Thanks to your generosity, we've been able to offer a lifeline to vulnerable kittens like Asher and Avery, the adorable siblings pictured here.

Asher and Avery came to us burdened with upper respiratory infections and intestinal parasites when they were just five weeks old.

We're eternally grateful for your unwavering support, which enabled us to nurse them back to health and happiness — and they are too!

Celebrating Our 600th Adoption!

Pumpkin, the brave tripod kitten pictured here, was our 600th adoption of 2023 and just one of the 377 kittens rescued so far this kitten season.

With the love and care provided by our incredible team, Pumpkin successfully adjusted to his new life with three legs and quickly captured the hearts of his new forever family.

Each adoption is a heartwarming success story, and it's all thanks to you!

Whew! Working in rescue can be intense, and it's easy to forget to celebrate our successes. As I write this, I'm filled with immense pride for our team, our rescue community, and our donors. I want to give a massive shoutout to each and every one of you! Your generosity fuels this monumental effort to save the helpless, and we are forever grateful for your support.

To allow us to continue this life-saving work, please consider making a donation this Giving Tuesday! We will be matching donations up to $15,000 as part of our Giving Mewsday campaign.

Let's continue to save lives, TOGETHER!

With gratitude,

Liam Montgomery
