Mews News:

Mack's Makeover

Meet Mack, a handsome four-year-old tabby rescued by one of our local partners. When he arrived at Nine Lives a little over a month ago, this former community cat was suffering from ringworm, an upper respiratory infection, and ear infections in both ears. He was also scared and depressed, and spent his first few days in our care hiding under the blankets in his condo.

After weeks of treatment, including a course of antibiotics, anti-fungal medication, ear drops, and lime dips, Mack's health has improved significantly. His previously ragged coat glistens, his ears are free from irritation, and his spirit has been rejuvenated.

Mack is waiting to find his forever family! ❤️

While he can be cautious with new people, Mack warms up quickly. He adores head pets and expresses his delight with a big, rumbling purr. Unlike most cats his age, Mack isn't incredibly playful; he thrives on cuddles rather than chasing after laser pointers.

Now on the lookout for his forever home, Mack is the ideal snuggle companion for anyone seeking a furry friend to share their life with. If you're ready to have your heart stolen by this sweet and loving kitty, we invite you to visit our Adoption Center to meet Mack in person. We're open Thursdays through Sundays from noon to 5:00 pm.

It's Pet Fair Time!

September is Pet Food Express Pet Fair Month, and we’re excited to be part of the fun! Through the end of the month, Pet Food Express is generously sponsoring a $25 discount on every Nine Lives adoption fee. And this weekend, on September 23rd and 24th, they'll be livestreaming from our Adoption Center! Tune in to the Pet Fair homepage on Saturday from 3:30 - 3:40 pm and on Sunday from 2:40 - 2:50 pm to catch all the action.

Carito will be available for adoption this weekend.

We'll be at the Sequoia Station Pet Food Express, located at 1099 El Camino Real in Redwood City, from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm both days. If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by and say hi!

Our awesome volunteers will be on hand meeting, greeting, and introducing our adoptable kitties on a TV monitor (we thought better of bringing the cats in person…).

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, now’s a great time. Visit our website at ninelivesfoundation.org/adoptions to see all of our available cats and kittens.

Where Are They Now?

Nine Lives alumni kitties end up with some wonderful lives full of love! Here are two heartwarming tales shared with us recently.

Addie and Winter

Addie was five when her mom Julia remarried and they moved into a new home. Julia always loved cats, and promised Addie a new black kitten to help with her adjustment – little Addie loved black kitties.

Through our veterinarian Dr. Julie Desai and her husband Kavin, they found out about Nine Lives, and came from Vacaville to meet the black kittens they had seen online. Addie fell in love with Winter at first sight and they are now inseparable. Winter goes everywhere with Addie – even her first day of school!

About three years ago, Nine Lives adopters Aina and her husband added two bonded cats to their family: Lily and Little Man. Aina is an artist and painter, and recently created a portrait of Lily. She’s happy to share that Lily will be featured at San Francisco’s de Young Museum during The de Young Open 2023 exhibition.

The exhibition is open from September 30 - January 7. Entry is free on opening day but requires a timed reservation. Tickets can be purchased on the museum website.

Vaccine Clinic Update

We’re excited to share that you can now easily book appointments online for our weekly vaccine clinic, providing a more convenient way to ensure your cat's health.

Our clinic isn't just about vaccines; it's about the overall well-being of your furry companion. Alongside low-cost vaccines, we offer services like deworming, flea medication, testing, microchipping, and even nail trimming. Your cat's health is our priority, and we've got it all under one roof.

While online appointments offer convenience, we will continue to welcome walk-in visitors without appointments. Visit our website for additional information about our vaccine clinic and the other services we offer. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Liam's Corner

I'd like to start by expressing my gratitude to everyone who played a part in our recent adoption fairs. Whether you adopted, fostered, volunteered, shared our posts on social media, or contributed in any other way, your support has been vital in finding loving homes for our rescue cats.

In just the past few weeks, more than 70 Nine Lives cats and kittens have found forever homes. Woohoo! Each adoption is more than just a happy moment; it represents a life saved and a brighter future for a furry friend in need. And it's all thanks to our incredible community (that's you!).

I'd also like to give a special thank you to Best Friends Animal Society for partnering with us and subsidizing our adoption fees last weekend. Their generous support allows us to offer low-cost adoptions to anyone with an open heart and a desire to give a rescue kitty a forever home. Thank you, Best Friends!

But our mission continues. Although autumn is finally here, we still find ourselves in the midst of Kitten Season.

In the past three weeks alone, multiple litters of kittens have been abandoned at our facilities, leaving us with fragile newborns who require around-the-clock care.

Allow me to introduce you to Coco, Whiskers, and Marco. These little ones were left outside our Adoption Center earlier this month when they were only a few days old. Thanks to the dedication of their foster mama Sandra, these sweet babies are thriving. From frequent feedings to regular check-ups, they're getting all the love and care they need to grow into happy and healthy kittens ready for their forever homes.

If you want to help us save even more lives, here are two meaningful ways you can contribute:

Become a foster parent: Consider opening your heart and home to a rescue cat or kitten. Your love and care can be the bridge to a better life for these vulnerable kitties.

Make a donation: Your financial support allows us to provide essential care to cats and kittens in need. Every dollar makes a difference!

Thank you for being a part of our mission. Your support is the foundation of Nine Lives and it fuels our passion to keep pushing forward. Together, we are transforming lives — one rescue and one adoption at a time.

With gratitude,

Liam Montgomery
