Purrfectly Spring
| Spring is in the air, and what better way to celebrate the season of new beginnings than by welcoming a new furry friend into your home? Meet Boop, a beautiful long-haired kitty who is ready to blossom in her forever home. At 7 years young, Boop is a total sweetheart who loves nothing more than being pampered with scratches and long brushing sessions to keep her luxurious coat looking its best. | |
After spending several months in a loving foster home, Boop is now back at our Adoption Center and eagerly waiting to find her forever family. She's currently on a prescription diet and oral medication to manage her Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), but her medical needs are easily manageable with medication given in her food once a day.
Boop is a total cuddle bug who can't wait to show her new family just how much love she has to give. So if you're looking for a loving companion to share the joys of spring and beyond, come meet Boop today! Our Adoption Center is open Thursdays through Sundays from noon to 5:00 pm.

With spring comes the unofficial start of kitten season in the Bay Area. This crucial period, which can start as early as February and last through September, is when animal shelters and rescue organizations are inundated with vulnerable kittens in need of help. At Nine Lives, we're dedicated to saving as many of these little ones as we can and providing them with the care they deserve.
Building on our success in 2022, our goal this year is to rescue 300 kittens and provide them with everything they need to thrive. But we can't do it alone. As we prepare to welcome them into our shelter, we're reaching out to our community for support.

Your donation will offset the costs of spay and neuter surgeries, vaccinations, microchips, and other necessities that are critical to the health and well-being of these kittens. We're striving to raise $60,000, and every donation, no matter how small, will make a tremendous difference in the lives of these little ones.
At Nine Lives, we believe that every cat deserves a chance at a happy, healthy life. With your support, we can provide these kittens with everything they need to grow up strong, safe, and loved. We thank you for your generosity and look forward to another busy but rewarding kitten season at Nine Lives.

We are thrilled to be participating in the Silver Paws for Love senior pet adoption program. When seniors 55 and over adopt a senior pet (age 6 and over), the Paws for Love Foundation pays the adoption fee!
Boop, featured above, would love to be the first Nine Lives kitty to benefit from this program. You can learn more about her and our other available cats on our website at ninelivesfoundation.org/adoptions.

In last month’s newsletter, I shared the news that Trill and Lady Gaga, our two incontinent kitties, found a new home at Copper's Cat Commune — a remarkable cat sanctuary in Spring, TX. I want to thank you all for the outpouring of love since we shared this news. We love that our network is so invested in the advocacy of our special needs kitties!
When we arrived at Copper’s Cat Commune, my partner Paul and I were amazed by what we saw. The cats were so happy and healthy, lounging in the sun, playing with toys, and receiving lots of love and attention from the staff. The sanctuary has a beautiful, open-air cattery that was spacious and clean, with plenty of hiding spots, scratching posts, and cat-friendly furniture.
Paul and I were truly impressed by the dedication and passion of the staff at Copper’s Cat Commune and knew we had found the perfect home for Trill and Lady Gaga!

As challenging as it was for us to find this new home for our much-beloved ladies, Copper’s Cat Commune had an equally-pressing need. Two of their cats, named Hank and Boomhauer, are FIV-positive and faced a lot of difficulty finding their adoptive homes.
We were more than happy to help these handsome kitties, so we arranged a cat exchange and soon found ourselves on a flight back to California with our new feline friends.

On our flight back to SFO! | |
Hank and Boomhauer are beautiful cats, with chubby cheeks (Hank), and inquisitive eyes (Boomie!). They were so well-behaved on the flight, cuddling up in their carriers and purring contentedly. When they arrived at our Adoption Center, they were greeted with open arms by our staff, who were thrilled to have them. | Boomhauer (L) and Hank (R) |
Hank and Boomhauer quickly acclimated to their new surroundings and won the hearts of everyone at Nine Lives. After two short weeks, Hank was adopted by a loving family in San Francisco. Boomhauer is enjoying snuggles with our volunteers and playing with string toys while he waits to find his perfect match.
In the end, our exchange proved to be a heartwarming success. Lady Gaga and Trill found a safe and happy home at Copper’s Cat Commune, Hank met his forever family, and Boomhauer is hopeful to find a home of his own. It is a reminder that, no matter what challenges cats might face, there are always people who care and are willing to help them find their way to a brighter future!
If you would like to help us save more special needs cats like Trill, Lady Gaga, Hank, and Boomhauer, please consider making a life-saving donation today.
