Mews News:

Reina the Resilient Queen

Reina is an elegant six-year-old lady with quiet charm and a heart full of love. With her soft grey and white coat, magnificent whiskers, and adorable pink nose, she embodies true feline royalty — fitting for her name, which means "queen."

Originally adopted from Nine Lives as a kitten in 2020, Reina returned to our care this past May when her family had to move. Though the sudden change left her feeling uncertain, she faced it with the dignity and resilience of a true queen.

Her journey with us has included significant healing. We provided crucial medical care, including extensive dental surgery to relieve the pain caused by severe dental disease.

Beyond her dental needs, Reina also faced other health challenges, including unexplained weight loss and gastrointestinal issues. After months of diagnostic tests, exams, and customized treatments, she's now healthy and thriving on a special hypoallergenic diet.

Reina is a gentle soul who truly blossoms with patience and love. She’s happiest enjoying soft pets and long naps in a sunny spot. She would do best as a solo kitty in a calm home, where she can finally reign as the cherished center of attention.

After nearly five months at Nine Lives, Reina is ready to start her next chapter — one filled with the stability, comfort, and unconditional love every queen deserves. Could you be the one to give her the happily ever after she's been waiting for? Come meet Reina and see if she's the perfect match for you.

Liam's Corner

It’s that wonderfully spooky time of year again — when pumpkins grace our porches and black cats are even more in season. But this October, our cauldron is bubbling with more than just Halloween magic.

I'm thrilled to share some big news: as of last week, we have officially rescued and rehomed more cats and kittens than in all of 2024! We’ve already saved over 1,000 feline lives, and it's only October — a truly supernatural feat given the constraints of our current facilities.

Among the 650+ kittens we’ve welcomed this year are Flame and her brothers Blaze, Bonfire, and Charred. They came to us from the Fremont area in early October — barely a month old, covered in fleas, underweight, and struggling with upper respiratory infections.

After receiving urgent care at our shelter, these once-fragile strays are now growing healthy and strong in a loving foster home.

While we celebrate these milestones, the demand for affordable veterinary care in our region remains at a crisis level. That's why we’re beyond excited for our big move to the new Brewster Avenue facility in Redwood City next year.

This state-of-the-art home will double our life-saving capacity and allow us to perform more than 10,000 low-cost surgeries a year, helping us meet the regional crisis head-on.

But we urgently need your support to make it happen. Please consider donating today to help us complete this critical project and open the doors to thousands of cats and kittens in need.

With gratitude,
