Dear

Welcome to the October issue of our newsletter. Our Mexican event last month was one we will all remember. The weather was glorious and our residents joined in with a variety of games and enjoyed some tasty cuisine.

We also welcomed back some professionally-led activities to stimulate our residents, including Henry with chair-based exercises.

I hope you enjoy our newsletter, and please take a minute to enter the competition to win a colourful hamper supplied by our local greengrocer.

Best wishes,

Niral Patel, Chief Executive, Birchwood Care
Residents fiesta Mexican-style!

There were no siestas when Birchwood House played host to a Mexican event last month.

Staff members donned sombreros and moustaches for an afternoon of Mexican-inspired festivities.

This included dancing, a range of games for all to get involved with, a taco race and residents trying their hand at breaking the donkey piñata as part of the celebration.

Win a harvest hamper from Pembury Greengrocers
We’re giving away a Harvest Vegetable Hamper with the October issue of Birchwood Care.

We get all our fresh fruit and vegetables from Pembury Greengrocers in Pembury, so we have partnered with our local supplier to offer you this great prize.

Professionally-led activities return to Birchwood
It is important to keep active and our residents are pictured here enjoying a visit from Henry of G Fitness who led them through some chair-based exercises
Heather from Music for Health ran a workshop for our residents. They were invited to play a variety of instruments and to sing, and there was also a music quiz.

It was very special to see the residents smiling and enjoying the session.
Get some Oomph!
Staff have been engaging with residents using a new on-line activity and wellness website Oomph!. It offers activities and exercise ideas for residents as well as live TV options.

Meet our team
Ciao to our new Chef Elia
Birchwood House has a new Chef, Italian-born Elia Cicatiello.

Italian food is, naturally, a firm favourite of Elia's but he will be cooking up plenty of traditional recipes to keep all our residents happy.

"Birchwood House ia a nice place to work and the grounds are so lovely," said Elia.

Our menu changes with the seasons and you can have a look at a sample menu here.
Happy birthday Pat!
Pat celebrated her 95th birthday this month with a very tasty cake and a visit from her family.

We really enjoy marking our residents' birthdays and celebrating with them.
