County Scholarship Program opens for annual submissions
New Castle County is kicking off the annual New Castle County Scholarship program's 2021 application period. Traditional and non-traditional students who are currently enrolled in, or will attend, an accredited college or university in the fall of 2021 are encouraged to apply. To be eligible students must reside in New Castle County (including municipalities) and demonstrate a need. To learn more about the scholarship program, CLICK HERE.
Deadline approaching for HBCU FOSSI scholarship
The Chemical Industry Council of Delaware in partnership with the HBCU Week Foundation is launching the Future of STEM Scholars Initiative (FOSSI), aimed at creating pathways for more underrepresented groups to enter and succeed in STEM careers within the chemical industry. Middletown grad Chris Godwin wins Super Bowl with Tampa Bay
Former Middletown High School Cavalier Chris Godwin won the Super Bowl in his fourth season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Godwin has been one of the best wide receivers in the NFL since he was drafted in 2017 out of Penn State University. Godwin led the Buccaneers in receiving yards and targets in his first post season en route to Tampa Bay's Super Bowl victory. Read more about Godwin in THE NEWS JOURNAL.
County continues offering pop-up testing sites next week
New Castle County will continue offering regular pop-up testing sites across the county, in addition to regular testing sites operated by the State of Delaware. Any resident can get tested regardless of symptoms and tests are free, quick, easy and painless. Results are usually returned in 24-48 hours.
