NCCo. Police Academy graduates 23 new officers
The New Castle County Police Academy graduated 23 new officers on Thursday morning. Of the 23 new officers, 20 will join the New Castle County Police Department, one will join the Elsmere Police Department, one will join the Ocean View Police Department and one will join the Delaware State Fire Marshall's office. Delaware Readiness Teams deliver "Ready to Learn" bags
New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer and Hope Center manager Nicole Waters received over 25 "Ready to Learn" bags from Diane Frentzel of the Delaware Readiness Teams at the Hope Center on Friday morning. Over 30 children are staying at the Hope Center and the readiness bags contain material to help prepare them for school or to register for kindergarten. The Delaware Readiness Teams will distribute over 5,000 bags statewide.
My Blue Duffle collecting donations for MLK Day
New Castle County is working with Kind to Kids to support My Blue Duffel Day as part of the Presidential Inaugural Committee's MLK Service Day events. There will be a drive-thru donation event at Shue Medill School on Monday, January 18th from 2-4pm. You can drop off teddy bears, small stuffed animals, coloring books, crayons and small blankets for foster children and victims of abuse, neglect and trauma. To donate online, CLICK HERE.
County continues offering pop-up testing sites next week
New Castle County will continue offering regular pop-up testing sites across the county, in addition to regular testing sites operated by the State of Delaware. Any resident can get tested regardless of symptoms and tests are free, quick, easy and painless. Results are usually returned in 24-48 hours.
