47th Annual Art Deco Weekend
Join us for Art Deco Weekend — a free community cultural festival celebrating Miami Beach’s architecture, history, arts and culture. Organized by the Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL) with major support from the City of Miami Beach and the Original Miami Beach Antique Show, the festival is celebrating its 47th year with the theme: Celebrating Florida's Historic Communities.
MDPL started Art Deco Weekend in 1977 to bring attention to the beautiful Art Deco architecture along Ocean Drive and throughout Miami Beach. This signature event is MDPL’s largest educational outreach program of the year and a major part of the organization’s initiative to preserve, protect, and promote historic preservation in the Art Deco District and greater Miami Beach.

Temporary Commission Chambers at Miami Beach Convention Center
While the Miami Beach City Hall Commission Chambers undergoes renovation, all City Commission, Committees and Land Use meetings through January 2024 will continue to be hosted on the second floor of the Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC) at 1901 Convention Center Drive in meeting rooms 222-225.
Beyond attending in-person meetings, residents, businesses and stakeholders can continue to watch these meetings live on the city’s website, our government-access cable television station MBTV (Breezeline Channel 660, AT&T U-verse Channel 99, and Hotwire Fision Digital Access Channel 395), Facebook page, YouTube page and via Zoom. Cultural Arts Council Grants
The City of Miami Beach and the Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council is accepting pre-applications for Cultural Arts Council grants this month to be awarded for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. The pre-application phase is mandatory for all organizations seeking city funding.
The Cultural Arts Grant Program within the Department of Tourism and Culture awards nearly $1 million each year to nonprofit arts organizations that produce and program arts and cultural activities throughout Miami Beach.
Submission of pre-applications for the cultural grants is open now through Monday, January 22. The upcoming round of funding is for program dates scheduled between Oct. 1, 2024 and Sept. 30, 2025. No extensions will be granted for the pre-application phase.
Applicants must have at least two distinct events or types of programming in Miami Beach to be eligible for a grant. Multiday programming for the same event is treated as a single event or program. Additional weight will be given to organizations that wish to undertake programming from June through September or for programming that takes advantage of the various geographic regions of Miami Beach.

Special Event Sponsorship Program
Miami Beach is looking to provide financial assistance and in-kind support to local festivals, special events, community events, or programming that promotes community engagement to elevate Miami Beach as a world-class tourist destination.
Applications will be considered from programs that:
- secure a minimum $1 to $1 funding match;
- provide unique and engaging experiences to increase resident quality of life;
- have verified hotel room contract(s) with targeted tourist attendance;
- promote Miami Beach as a national and international tourist destination;
- are accessible to the general public; and
- strengthen Miami Beach as a world-class tourist destination.

Online Conditional Use Permit Database
The City of Miami Beach has launched an online database that will allow residents to access conditional use permits (CUP) approved by the Miami Beach Planning Board. The online database gives users the option of searching through more than 600 conditional use permits, including permits issued prior to May 2016 that had been previously unavailable online. The database is updated regularly and is searchable by address and zoning district.

Volunteers needed! The City of Miami Beach is looking for volunteers to help homeless, free roaming community cats through the Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate and Return (TNVR) method. In addition, SoBe Cats is looking for volunteers to work at the Kitty Campus adoption facility, and/or to be a part of a feeding program.
The feeders play a vital role in the mission of SoBe Cats because not only do they supply the cat colonies with food and fresh water for survival, but they also act as the eyes and ears for cats in need of TNVR. Register to be a feeder.

The new app replaces the Miami Beach eGov app that was released in 2014. Current eGov users will automatically receive the Miami Beach Gov app via a software upgrade without the need to create a new account.

The Miami Beach City Commission has approved the sale of $1,500 commemorative brick pavers that will be placed along the 26 Street entrance to the Beachwalk as a pilot program with the proceeds to fund educational programing in the city.
The personalized Beachwalk Bricks will remain on the oceanfront promenade for 10 years but may be extended for an additional period if the program is available. Inscriptions can include names or messages.
