Spring Break 2026 Safety Measures
This spring, break a sweat on Miami Beach as the city flexes a fitness and wellness approach that invites visitors to experience the global travel destination in a healthy way. While implementing measures that ensure public safety, order and a positive environment, the city will once again make it clear that the disorderly crowds, unlawful behavior and violence of the past will not be tolerated.
Due to an expected increase in the number of visitors, more stringent measures are in place now through Sunday, March 22.
License Plate Readers and DUI enforcement will continue tonight, March 20 through March 22 starting at 10 p.m. each night (with setup commencing at 9 p.m.). Motorists should expect significant traffic impacts and delays as eastbound travel lanes will be reduced on the MacArthur and Julia Tuttle causeways.
Increased parking rates, beach security checkpoints and $548 nonresident towing rates are currently in effect in the Art Deco District through Sunday.

Dog Beach Daily Hours
While we love our furry friends, pets are prohibited on the beach. However, there are three designated "bark beaches" in Miami Beach so your pup can still play on the sand. Check out our dog beach hours below.
Locations:
- South Beach, 21 Street
- Mid Beach, 53 Street
- North Beach, 81 Street
Daily Hours:
- November - March: 7 AM - 9 AM
- April - October: 9 AM - 11 AM
The North Beach location at 81 Street is open for the following additional hours from Friday through Sunday:
- November - February: 1:30 PM - 5:30 PM
- March - October: 3 PM - 7 PM
As a reminder, always pick up after your pets to keep our waterways clean.

Sea Turtle Season is Coming!
Sea turtle season in Miami Beach runs from April 1 through October 31.
Our beach is a crucial nesting habitat for sea turtles. As sea turtle hatchlings make their way from sand to sea, the stark contrast between the darker dunes and the reflection of the moon over the ocean helps them determine where to go.
Artificial lighting near beaches presents a significant hazard by confusing sea turtles and leading them to mistakenly crawl toward the artificial lights instead of heading to the ocean. Turn off the lights to help keep sea turtles safe!
Do not disturb or touch nesting sea turtles or hatchlings. Report any disturbances or lost turtles to MyFWC Florida Fish and Wildlife at 1.888.404.3922, to Miami-Dade County Government at 305.310.3046 or to Miami Beach PD at 305.673.7900. Let's protect our beach ecosystem together! View the video below for more information.

Let Us Throw You Some Shade
Now through Tuesday, March 31, Miami Beach residents can map out where trees are needed most by completing a quick survey to determine where on the right-of-way next to your property to plant new trees.
The “Let Us Throw You Some Shade” initiative aims to provide more shade to the community and grow the urban tree canopy of Miami Beach. Trees will be planted in the right-of-way next to your property and the city will maintain them for the first three months. Check out the video below to learn more.

Plastic-Free Party
Help keep our ocean and Biscayne Bay plastic-free while protecting our Miami Beach ecosystem!
While glitter, balloons and plastic decorations may be eye-catching at a party, they are harmful to marine life and pollute waterways. Balloons, along with plastic and metallic confetti, glitter, tinsel, synthetic flower petals and mylar streamers, are prohibited in public marinas, parks and beaches.
Environmentally friendly decor alternatives include natural fiber or paper-based garlands, banners, streamers, pompoms or pinwheels, natural flowers, bubble-blowing solution and kites.
And no matter what your decor is made of – always remember to pick up and dispose of it properly when your celebration is over.
Fines range from $250-$5,000 as per Section 82-74 of the City Code.

Pick Up After Your Pet
Pet waste can take a huge toll on the environment if it is not cleaned up properly. It is a contributing pollutant that affects our water quality. Support the efforts of Operation Clean Water by picking up after your dog. Forgot your pet waste bag? No problem! Pet waste stations are located throughout the city. Learn more.

Gas-Powered Leaf Blower & Chainsaw Ban
Gas-powered leaf blowers and chainsaws are prohibited in Miami Beach per ordinance 2024-4589. These initiatives are part of the city's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
Eliminating gas-powered leaf blowers and chainsaws not only reduces air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, but also improves water quality and mitigates noise pollution.
Fines for violations start at $250 for the first violation followed by $500 for the second violation and $1,000 for subsequent violations. To report a suspected violation, contact Miami Beach Code Compliance at 305.604.CITY (2489).

Fair Housing Spotlight
If you’re looking for a new place to rent or buy, you’re probably being shown places by one or more real estate agents. In this process, look out for a type of illegal housing discrimination called steering. This is when a real estate agent, often subtly, directs you toward or away from a certain neighborhood or area based on a protected class like race, color or national origin.
Look out for phrases like, “I’m not sure you would feel comfortable here,” or “I know a neighborhood down the road I think you would feel more at home in.” If you have even the slightest suspicion a real estate agent might be trying to steer you towards or away from a certain area based on a protected class call Housing Opportunities Project for Excellence (HOPE), Inc. at 305.651.4673.
