How to Register:
Registration can be done online at register.miamibeachparking.com or in-person by visiting the Miami Beach Customer Service Center (1755 Meridian Ave, 1st floor) with a photo ID, vehicle registration and proof of residency e.g., utility bill.

Protect Pets from Extreme Heat
Protect your furry friends! The asphalt can get nearly twice as hot as the air outside. If it’s too hot for your bare feet, then it’s too hot for your pet’s paws.
Conditions can change quickly. Make sure your pet has plenty of water and never leave them in a car.

Fight the Bite
Take precautions against mosquito-borne illness by applying bug spray, avoiding areas with high mosquito populations and wearing long pants and long-sleeve shirts when possible — especially during sunrise and sunset when mosquitoes are most active.
To prevent the bite and spread of disease by mosquitoes, remember to drain and cover.
- Flush water from water-bearing plants so they don't become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Disposing of excess water at least once a week disrupts the mosquitoes' life cycle, preventing mosquito egg deposits and killing existing larvae in the process.
- Survey your garden and backyard, checking landscaping for current and future locations of standing water. Mosquitoes need as little as a bottle cap of water to reproduce, so every little bit counts.
- Eliminate all sources of standing water by emptying potential water-holding yard items, including pots, buckets and wheelbarrows weekly. Make sure to drain items more frequently following rainfall.

Volunteers Needed
Volunteers needed! The City of Miami Beach is looking for volunteers to help homeless, free-roaming community cats through the Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate and Return (TNVR) method. In addition, SoBe Cats is looking for volunteers to work at the Kitty Campus adoption facility and/or to be a part of a feeding program.
The feeders play a vital role in the mission of SoBe Cats because not only do they supply the cat colonies with food and fresh water for survival, but they also act as the eyes and ears for cats in need of TNVR. Register to be a feeder.
Contact info@sobecats.org for more information.

Iguana Remediation Program
As an invasive species with no known natural predators on Miami Beach, iguanas are able to wreak havoc on our environment. They eat vegetation on public and private property and destroy renourished dunes. They can also damage infrastructure by burrowing under sidewalks and seawalls. Iguana bites and waste can transmit salmonella, which can be harmful to humans and pets.
The city partners with contractors who work seven days a week to remove iguanas from public property. If you’re dealing with an iguana problem, there are ways to deter them from private property, such as filling in holes to discourage burrowing, hanging wind chimes or removing plants that may attract them. Iguana-resistant plants include milkweed, citrus and tough, thick-leaved plants. Never feed iguanas and do not leave pet foods or ripe fruits outside.
Iguanas are legally allowed to be removed from private property, as long as it’s done humanely. Caught iguanas must be euthanized and cannot be released.
If you see a large group of iguanas gathering or notice an area with an influx of iguanas, please report it using the Miami Beach Gov app.
City contractors Iguana Control, M&J Ecological, Iguana Busters and Redline Iguana removal all offer a discount on iguana removal for Miami Beach residents.

Gas-Powered Leaf Blower Ban & Chainsaw Phase Out Period
Gas-powered leaf blowers are banned in Miami Beach. Additionally, gas-powered chainsaws are now being phased out per ordinance 2024-4589. These initiatives are part of the city's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
Full enforcement began on August 1, 2025.
Transitioning away from gas-powered leaf blowers and chainsaws not only helps to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, but also helps to improve water quality, mitigate noise pollution and promote operational effectiveness.

Sargassum
Recently, you may have noticed a heavier influx of sargassum (seaweed) along our shoreline. The city continues to coordinate with Miami-Dade County Parks to safely remove excess seaweed from our beaches. Clean-up crews operate on a daily basis to collect, remove, cut and turn the buildup of seaweed on the water line across our 7.5-mile beach.
Prior to operating heavy machinery, a team surveys for sea turtle nests and hatchlings each morning. Once the survey is complete, beach operations crews proceed to clean the beach until sunset, regardless of tidal conditions.
Check out the video below to learn more.
| |
Sea Turtle Season
Sea turtle season in Miami Beach began on April 1 and runs through October 31.
Our beach is a crucial nesting habitat for sea turtles. As sea turtle hatchlings make their way from sand to sea, the stark contrast between the darker dunes and the reflection of the moon over the ocean helps them determine where to go.
Artificial lighting near beaches presents a significant hazard by confusing sea turtles and leading them to mistakenly crawl toward the artificial lights instead of heading to the ocean. Turn off the lights to help keep sea turtles safe!
Do not disturb or touch nesting sea turtles or hatchlings. Report any disturbances or lost turtles to MyFWC Florida Fish and Wildlife at 1.888.404.3922, to Miami-Dade County Government at 305.310.3046 or to Miami Beach PD at 305.673.7900. Let's protect our beach ecosystem together! Learn more.
