September 20 – November 2, 2012
Curated by Gustavo Orta, this unique exhibition features fans designed by prominent artists of Cuban descent. Fans Forever re-creates a 1943 exhibition of artist-designed fans auctioned off to raise funds for the Church of Santa Mara del Rosario, a jewel of Cuban Baroque architecture in Havana, Cuba. Notable artists who participated in the event included Wifredo Lam, Ren Portocarrero, Mario Carreo, Mariano Rodrguez, Carlos Enrquez, Cundo Bermdez and Felipe Orlando.

Featuring 50 fans painted by some of the artists who exhibited in the historic occasion, along with fans by artists of later generations, Fans Forever commemorates the beauty freely expressed by Cuban artists in the 1940’s.
