Happy to participate in the Street Party benefiting the Buoniconti Fund and to be an annual sponsor and supporter.

Thank you to Sylvia Vanni for including me in this great Mystic Force Foundation Cure Childhood Cancer Bike Giveaway to special children in our community fighting cancers' challenges.

At the North Miami Keystone Point HOA's Annual Meeting... happy to be with great residents that care about their community.

At the Women's March Florida Anniversary in Miami where I was proud to stand with, speak up, and participate with empowered women and supportive men.

Congratulations to the Village of Bal Harbour
in the unveiling of Robert Chamber's "Rotorelief". This is great public artwork for people to enjoy!

At the Aventura Marketing Council January Breakfast Meeting with the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau CEO/President William Talbert.

At the Miami Marathon and Half Marathon... wow, we are in Year 16 and I'm proud of how incredible and inclusive it has become. I love working with Frankie Ruiz and his team. I have been there for all 16 marathons.

Opening Day for North Miami Beach Little League (NMBLL)... wishing all the teams a successful year! Thank you North Miami Beach Police Explorers for coming out to help.

Major League Soccer and Miami; it was a great kick off with David Beckham, government leaders, owners and masses of soccer fans. Miami/South Florida will now be home to 5 major sports leagues. Rare and Great!

Celebrating the Jewish New Year of the Trees (Tu B'Shevat) with tree planting ceremony in Miami Beach with Mayor Dan Gelber and Israeli Consul General Lior Haiat at Muss Park. Happy to have this newly renovated park in District 4.

At Sky Lake - Highland Lakes Area Homeowners Association's January Meeting, where they installed the officers and board members.

Proud to sponsor and champion the "Getting to Zero HIV AIDS" campaign. Love working with Dr. Lillian Rivera and Department of Health. We are doing free testing at events county-wide. Love yourself and safely love others: be protected and get tested.

Jazz at the Ancient Spanish Monastery with Nicole Henry! This was a great night with amazing people, awesome jazz and raising money for our great Spanish Monastery here in North Miami Beach.

Commissioner Heyman partnered with Miami-Dade Animal Services Department and the Town of Bay Harbor Islands for Free Spay/Neuter for Cats Event in Bay Harbor Islands. This was a successful event to help reduce feline population. Thank you to everyone for a great team effort.

Happy to be a table sponsor for Americans for Immigrant Justice (AIJ) fundraiser. Great job to Cheryl Little and her team. A nice evening with good people.

Love teaming up with Pelican Harbor Seabird Station on a Sunset Cruise, where I released a rehabbed Brown Pelican. Their fundraiser is April 14th, if you are around town, come support them.

Happy to support women athletes and proud to be part of University of Miami Ceremony to honor women athletes for both sports and academic excellence.

At the 26th Annual Kite Festival at Haulover Park with Dan the Kite Man, food trucks, good people and great fun. Happy to have this fabulous community event at Haulover Park.

At the annual Greater Miami Jewish Federation event, where I spent the evening with Holocaust survivors, including Magda Bader. It was great to see them honoring Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen for her work.

A favorite cause to support: The Victory Center. It's a special place to visit, especially on Field Day! This year's theme for Field Day was a carnival.

Yahoo! Gateway Park in Sunny Isles Beach is open, let the play begin! It was a nice night for a ribbon cutting and concert.

At the Town of Surfside for their 12th Annual Beach 5K Run/Walk. It's fun run with an incredible sunrise. Great way to start the day.

Monday, February 26th, truly was a "Dog Day" in a great way. Started with the dedication celebration of the Norma Jay bench located at Haulover Bark Park. District 4 Staff, family and community friends showed for the unveiling: several with their dogs. Great lady we lost and a great way to remember her.

Monday, February 26th, "Dog Day" part two. Great to team up with ASPCA again; this time ASPCA joined efforts with Miami-Dade Animal Services Department to create a Community Vet Clinic. WOOF!

You don't have to be a Dead Head to love
what Dead and Company did at their South Florida concert. They quietly met with Marjory Stoneman Douglas students, parents and threw their support of activism to bring about responsible gun rules and laws. Standing Strong!

Congratulations to Miami-Dade County Teacher of the Year, Mollie Winters Diallo. Happy to recognize her and present a Proclamation to her at the County Commission. I also participated in school announcements and did a presentation with her class at Alonso & Tracy Mourning High School. Well deserved!

At the 2018 In the Company of Women event. A great evening celebrating amazing women, many I know. Special congrats to Aventura Mayor Enid Weisman, the Pioneer Recipient. This was a nice way to spend part of International Women's Day with a bunch of amazing women.

At the Rotary Club of Bal Harbour and Bal Harbour Police Department (BHIPD) 5K Run/Walk in memory of Chief Mark N. Overton. Happy to join Rotary, BHI Police, other police departments and community in support of a special cause and to donate great coffee.

At the Annual Orchid Festival at Fairchild Botanic Tropical Garden. Loved seeing everybody and the garden. Unfortunately my Rainbow Eucalyptus was destroyed by Hurricane Irma.

With the help of our community, our office
was able to donate new stuffed animals of all types to the children of the Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Special shout-out to Sudsies who did dry-cleaning prep for the lightly used stuffed animals.

Attention Residents- things you need to be aware of & what is happening in District 4...

Mail Scam

Mail is being sent to residents from companies claiming they are from American Water Resources of Florida or FPL Energy Services. These letters claim that maintenance and repairs need to be done on the water line located on your property. These letters state these repairs can be costly over time if not addressed and that you can sign up for low monthly re-occurring payments to prevent this. THESE MAIL PIECES ARE A SCAM.  DO NOT RESPOND BACK WITH FINANCIAL INFORMATION.

The mail being received from these entities has nothing to do with Miami-Dade County Water & Sewer Department or Miami-Dade County, as a whole. Please let others know about this scam; so they do not become victims.

Northeast Dade Municipal Advisory Council (NEMAC)

In August of 2016, the Northeast Miami-Dade Municipal Advisory Committee (NEMAC) recommended that a new municipality be formed in the unincorporated area between I-95 and Biscayne Boulevard from the North Miami Beach city limits to the county line. The recommendation was transmitted to the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) where it was scheduled for consideration by the Planning Advisory Board (PAB). The PAB held a public hearing on September 26, 2017 to consider the application and forwarded a recommendation to the Mayor and Board of County Commissioners. The petition will be placed on a BCC agenda for a public hearing in which members of the public will have the opportunity to comment and provide input on the proposed incorporation.

Commissioner Heyman will continue to provide accurate detailed information to the residents of the NEMAC area.

It's Official, Larry Juriga is now the North Miami Police Chief

Larry Juriga who has been acting as the Interim Police Chief for the North Miami Police Department has been promoted to Police Chief and his swearing in ceremony was on March 13th. Our office has partnered with Chief Juriga on Hurricane Planning, Emergency Management Operations, Relief Distribution, and Gun Buy Backs. Chief Juriga has always put Public Safety as a priority. Congratulations to Police Chief Larry Juriga from the entire community.
