Celebrate Women’s Equality Day! | On August 26, 1920, after decades of marches, protests, and advocacy, American women won the right to vote with passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and August 26 is recognized as Women’s Equality Day every year to mark this achievement. The first call for women’s suffrage in the U.S. came during the Seneca Falls Convention of 1848, regarded by many as the birthplace of American feminism. According to the Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP), women have registered and voted at higher rates than men in every presidential election since 1980. More information about women and politics is also available at Gender on the Ballot.
Don’t forget to request a Vote-By-Mail ballot | Due to recent changes in Florida law, all requests for vote-by-mail ballots expired at the end of 2022 so any request on file with the Miami-Dade Elections Department has expired. If you wish to continue voting by mail you must make a new request, either online or by calling 305-499-8444.
