Commissioner Keon Hardemon held a Thanksgiving food distribution on November 25 at the Joseph Caleb Center. Goodwill Ambassadors were there to help and give back to the community.

It will be a busy holiday season at the Deering Estate, which is hosting a wide variety of activities sure to please all. There are Evening Strolls, a Mistletoe and Martinis fundraiser, a Holiday Bay Cruise, and more. And the Deering Estate will be decorated in historic Gilded Age themed holiday décor from November 26th to January 6, 2022. First Meeting of the Interfaith Advisory Board

The first meeting of the Interfaith Advisory Board was held on November 16, 2021. Pastor Juan Barek was elected Chair, Rabbi Mark Rosenberg was elected First Vice Chair, and Rabbi Robyn Fisher was elected Second Vice Chair.

On Saturday, November 13, the Asian American Advisory Board (AAAB), with Miami Dade College World Language Department-Wolfson Campus and Greater Miami Asian Business Coalition, participated in HistoryMiami Museum’s fifth annual CultureFest 305, a folklife festival celebrating life in the Magic City! As part of unique sights, sounds, and flavors that make Miami, Miami - AAAB showcased an interactive Chinese calligraphy demonstration and accentuated programs offered through Miami Dade College. In addition, all enjoyed a jam-packed day of music, dance, food, and art. This festival brought together the city’s finest traditional artists for a day of performances and demonstrations and activities for all ages. Festival attendees discovered all that makes Miami the diverse, vibrant, and extraordinary city we love!

During the AAAB’s November general board meeting, the board members elected the AAAB Executive Officers for 2022. Congratulations to Dr. Li Gurau, Chairwoman; Ms. Phonethip “Tai” Vaz, First Vice-Chairwoman; Mr. Vivek “Victor” Swaroop, Second Vice-Chairman; and Ms. Josephine Gordy, Third Vice-Chairwoman. The Dr. Antonio Jorge Social and Economic Development Council is hosting an Affordable Housing Seminar on December 2, 2021 from 9-11 AM at Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus, 300 NE 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33132, MDC Live Arts Miami Theater, Room 1101 (Bldg. 1, 1st floor). The seminar aims to identify issues with housing affordability and availability in Miami-Dade County and to discuss proposals for the future outlook of the housing market.

Miami-Dade Domestic Violence Oversight Board Urges Expansion of Resources for Domestic Violence

Miami-Dade County collects a 1% Domestic Violence and Homeless Tax since 1993, more commonly called the Food & Beverage Tax (F&B Tax), on food and beverages consumed on-premises in certain establishments with a liquor license in all areas of the County, except in Miami Beach, Surfside, and Bal Harbour (the Beach municipalities).

New hours for the Miami-Dade County
Animal Shelter
|
|
The Miami-Dade Animal Services Pet Adoption and Protection Center has new, extended hours. It’s now open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., thus giving members of the public more time to find new furry friends.
