Miami-Dade Chairman’s Message
As the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, I want to recognize the hard work and dedication of all the volunteers of the Goodwill Ambassadors Program, which consists of our great County employees. They serve our community by assisting law enforcement with crowd control at numerous events and offer a helping hand to our tourists. The award-winning configuration of the Goodwill Ambassadors Program is recognized as a national model for the delivery of excellent customer service.

Under the direction of the Office of Community Advocacy, more than 250 volunteers regularly train in customer service, mediation, conflict resolution, crisis management, and how to handle many difficult situations that arise from large crowds, sometimes placing our uniformed law enforcement officers at odds with the community. Every year, I witness them in action, and 2021 has been no exception.

The Goodwill Ambassadors qualify for this level of service by first demonstrating excellence in the performance of their duties at their worksite, and showing they are good followers, outstanding listeners, and that they do not settle for limitations placed by the prejudices associated with labeling, because of one's gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, culture, or social standing.

On behalf of all the residents of Miami-Dade County, thank you for the excellent work you do and for choosing to serve our community. I also wish everyone a safe and Happy Independence Day!
