Black Affairs Advisory Board presents
State of Black Miami Report
| On November 12, the Black Affairs Advisory Board (BAAB) presented its 2023 State of Black Miami Report to the County Commission’s Housing, Recreation, Culture & Community Development Committee. The Report summarizes the recommendations that came out of BAAB’s 2023 State of Black Miami Forum, one of several forums organized by BAAB over the past several years. At these forums, BAAB convenes experts and community stakeholders to address and find solutions for challenges facing the county’s African American residents. These recommendations are then shared with the County Commissioners for implementation. The topics highlighted in the 2023 report include mental health, education, and generational wealth. | Interfaith Advisory Board updates | This month the Interfaith Advisory Board (IAB) visited Florida International University for its monthly meeting and to visit the Multifaith Chapel being constructed on campus. The Trish and Dan Bell Chapel will be a multifaith gathering place for worship, contemplation, spiritual strengthening, and mutual understanding. The IAB also re-elected its Executive Committee Chair Rabbi Mark Rosenberg, 1st Vice-Chair Claudia Miro, and 2nd Vice-Chair Pastor Donald Clarke for another term. We wish all board members continued success in the year ahead. | Celebrate the holidays at Miami-Dade County’s festive attractions! | Miami-Dade County’s premier attractions are going all out for the holidays!
