Miami Valley Fire District levy prepares for the future

Miamisburg and Miami Township residents will vote November 8 on Issue 9, a continuous 11-mill levy that, if approved, will enable the Miami Valley Fire District (MVFD) to operate from its own funding independent of the city and township.

The fire district will hold an informational meeting for the public Monday, October 24, at 6 p.m., at the historic Plaza Theatre, 33 South Main Street, downtown Miamisburg. Fire Chief Brandon Barnett will discuss the levy and field any questions you may have. Read more about the levy now:

In Remembrance: A true friend of our community

Ken Snavely loved a good party and Miami Township has been privileged over the years to be a part of the celebration. Most recently, we helped Ken celebrate his 105th birthday at a parade in his honor. Organized by his fellow veterans, Ken smiled from ear to ear with his family and friends by his side.

Ken died September 17, 2022, after a short illness, having lived out his final years at the Trinity Community of Miami Township. The World War II veteran served in the U. S. Army and later worked as a systems analyst for the Air Force Logistics Command. He is survived by two children, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
