According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), an estimated 7 million U.S. children ages 3-17, representing 11.7% of children in that age group, have been diagnosed with ADHD. Common signs of ADHD may include difficulty focusing, becoming easily distracted, frequently losing items such as homework, fidgeting, excessive movement, difficulty remaining seated, interrupting others, acting impulsively, difficulty managing emotions, and becoming easily frustrated. Symptoms can vary from child to child, and ADHD may present differently in each individual.
If you have concerns about your child's attention, behavior, or emotional regulation, you are not alone. An evaluation can help determine whether ADHD or another factor may be contributing to challenges at home or at school. At SVCHC, our Behavioral Health team is here to support children and families every step of the way. We can help assess your concerns, answer your questions, and connect your family with the resources and support needed to help your child thrive.
"As a therapist, working with children is very rewarding. The focus of treatment with ADHD involves specialized planning and working on coping strategies. We offer a family-centered approach and often collaborate with the school the child is attending. Contact us for more information."
