Born and raised in Albuquerque her family’s history in New Mexico stretches back hundreds of years. She is the mother of two school-aged children and has helped run her husband’s accounting firm for years as the bookkeeper.
“Like many New Mexicans, we’ve worked hard for what we have. We know what it’s like to struggle and overcome obstacles. Because of this, we also know what it means to lend a helping hand in a time of need,” Chavez said. “This is why I’m running to represent the North Valley in Santa Fe. Small businesses aren’t treated fairly, our children and teachers deserve a better education system, and too many people are having to leave New Mexico to find better opportunities for themselves and their families. We can do better.”
Senate District 13 stretches along the North Valley corridor, including the Alameda, Los Griegos, Edith and Candelaria neighborhoods and a small neighborhood on the westside of the Rio Grande.
