Benchmark Assessment Legislation -

December 19 Deadline Approaching

As we move into the final stretch for the fall Benchmark Assessment reporting period, districts should be aware that all Benchmark Assessment data must be fully published and validated in MiDataHub by December 19, 2025. This deadline is set by the Michigan Department of Education as part of the statewide Benchmark Legislation requirements.

To support your district in meeting this deadline, we encourage you to log in to your ODS and use the Feature > Benchmark Assessment Legislation screen to verify your data as soon as possible. This tool provides a quick, comprehensive view of your district’s readiness and highlights any required corrections.

When reviewing your data, be sure to:

Confirm that at least one approved assessment is showing data for grade levels K-8.

Verify that Mode of Instruction includes student counts.

🚫 Ensure no red X’s appear anywhere on the report. Any red indicator requires attention before data can be considered complete.

If your district needs assistance with updating Mode of Instruction, MiDataHub can run the script to set all students to Fully In Person. To request this, please open a support ticket at www.miservicedesk.com.

(Note: This request must be made annually unless your SIS publishes Mode of Instruction directly.)

Recordings and slide decks from both recent Benchmark Assessment webinars—including the November 20 and October 23 sessions—are available on our MiDataHub Support > Trainings page for anyone who would like to review the materials.

If you have questions or need help validating your information, our team is here to assist—simply submit a ticket at www.miservicedesk.com.

Update on SSO Federation Alerts and Next Steps

Over the weekend, you may have received an alert from the Michigan DataHub indicating your districts’ SSO Federation had expired. We found that our process to identify the current expiration date failed to run successfully and may have sent out invalid alerts. Our process returned a "NoResult" value instead of the expiration date which was enough to trigger the alerts to go out. To prevent further confusion, we have temporarily deactivated this alert while we work with our developers to improve the process. This change will ensure the rule triggers only when the proper values are retrieved and meet the alert criteria. Once the updates are complete and the alert is reactivated, we will notify all districts.

If districts would like to take further action while the alert is inactive, they may choose to review and update their SSO Federation alert subscribers and verify their actual SSO Federation certificate expiration date.

1. How to Review and Update SSO Federation Alert Subscribers

Even while the alert is inactive, districts may want to confirm who should receive these notifications once the system is restored—especially if staff roles have changed.

To view or update your subscriber list: Navigate to Utilities → Alerts, and Select SSO Federation Expiration. From this screen, you can:

  • View all current subscribers
  • Remove recipients by clicking “Remove” next to their email near the bottom of the screen
  • Add new recipients—even if they are not DataHub users—by entering their email address

After making updates, scroll to the bottom and click Submit to save changes.

2. How to Verify Your SSO Federation Certificate

Because the alert triggered incorrectly, we encourage districts to verify their true certificate status manually by navigating to Utilities > District Federation > review the Certificate Expiration Date.
