January, 2023

Familia MHCC,

2023 arrived at full speed, and we couldn’t be more excited! In just a few weeks, we have been able to attend more than five events supporting our Comunidad Hispana, as well as partner organizations and members. 2022 confirmed to us how much we excel as an organization when we can interact in-person with our business community and learn more about ways to support it. Expect more of this!

I invite you to learn about our upcoming events, as well as those of our members and business partners. Try to attend those that bring the most value to you. I hope to see you at our upcoming Tercer Jueves Business Networking event on Thursday, January 19th. We can’t wait to support a proud hermano that recently opened his Mexican restaurant in Southfield: MEZCALERO!

May 2023 bring us even closer, as we work together to elevate the Hispanic Business Community in our State!

Saludos,

Mark A. Moreno

Executive Director

In the last three months, the MHCC has seen a positive increase in membership of 13.4%. This trend is as much good news as the diverse group of members we are welcoming to the Chamber: restaurants, construction companies, insurance companies, law firms, educational institutions, renewal energy & wellness, health companies, as well as community organizations.

For 2023, we continue our outreach and engagement geographically to provide our members with an even bigger network of companies and professionals with whom to do business.

We are also excited to see more inspiring leaders join our Board of Directors. In 2022, we welcomed six professionals whose leadership spans multiple industries and who have served in the community as advocates for diverse businesses and our Hispanic culture. The 22 Hispanic business leaders and corporate professionals that comprise our Board of Directors stand ready and willing to support your business growth and prosperity.

The MHCC sponsored alongside the Mexican Consulate, the celebration Rosca de Reyes in support to the Lincoln Park community. The MHCC presence at the event, that took place at the Lincoln Public Library, included gifting bicycles as part of this traditional celebration. Special thanks to Mexican Consul Roberto Nicolas for the invitation to this wonderful event.

Part of the MHCC team joined the Hispanic Bar Association of Michigan on their Holiday Networking Party. It was the perfect opportunity to establish a closer connection to this inspiring organization.

Pleased to attend the Ripple Effect supporting the MSED, as well as our members who had a key role in the organization of the event. Special thanks to Chad Toms, MSED Board Member and Vice President of Sales & Strategic Accounts at Reliance One

The MHCC receives its newest member Mezcalero Mexican Restaurant, led by Antonio Carcur. Mezcalero is a locally owned restaurant where we’ll be hosting our upcoming Tercer Jueves

THE W BUCHANAN GROUP

People often ask what the "W" Stands for in W Buchanan Group. It stands for their commitment to Wellness for our people and for the planet.

The Wellness for the Planet program helps to assess the current usage of energy at your company to see if there are ways to reduce your Carbon footprint to be in alignment with the Net Zero Goals. The Wellness for the People program helps the people at your business, nonprofit, and/or governmental entity to retain employees, and help them become more efficient and happier in your workplace and daily lives.

We asked Dana M. Armenteros from THE W BUCHANAN GROUP about her favorites words in Spanish:

Oh! I have more than one! Azulejo: I first learned this word while walking around in Varadero. I saw Azulejos, everywhere. When I asked what they were and my cousin told me the name in Spanish, I just loved the sound of the word! My second favorite is Lagartija (lizard): it reminds me of Florida. There are so many there, and we don’t have them in Michigan.
