February 2022
Dear Friends:

I'm hoping that your new year has started off well and that you and your families are staying healthy.

Our department is putting on several community education events this winter and spring and we're inviting you to join us. Find out more details below - we hope to 'see' you there!

Colleagues and alumni, as you likely know, voting will soon begin for the U.S. News & World Report 'Best Hospitals' rankings. We view our rankings as one form among many of the recognition of the great care, valuable research, and educational achievements that Michigan Psychiatry alumni, faculty, and staff provide. For patients and students (and for our colleagues), these rankings can be highly influential.

Eligible physicians will be able to vote through Doximity very soon. Please keep Michigan Psychiatry in mind when you are polled. Thank you for voting; we appreciate your continued support!

A new program launched by our psychiatric emergency team is bringing firearm injury prevention to a high-risk patient population, by giving gun locks to any patients or families who have firearms in their homes. The program, funded by a grant and made possible through teamwork among Psychiatry, HITS and DPSS, could be a model for other psychiatric providers nationwide – and could help spur similar safe-storage programs in other care settings too.
