2026 Central Zone Championship Meet

Congrats to Team Michigan! We won the 2026 Central Zone Championship Meet! This is the first win for the state of Michigan at a zone championship meet since 2001 and our first win ever under the 14 & Under format.

Michigan brought a powerful team of 148 athletes to Evansville, Indiana to compete against Oklahoma, Ozark Swimming, Missouri Valley, Team Ohio, and Team Indiana. Our two closest competitors, Team Indiana and Team Ohio outnumbered us by over 80 athletes and 100 athletes respectively. But that didn’t rattle our Team Michigan swimmers who stayed focused, cheered for one another with passion, and swam for a mission bigger than their individual times.

Team Michigan had strong top 8 representation across events, often having 3 or more athletes on the podium at the same time. We had a multitude of individual champions, numerous high point winners, and a plethora of relay medalists. Our 11-12 boys A relays won all four relay events. Two of our swimmers also broke state records. Kallen McDowall in the 11-12 boys 50m freestyle with a time of 26.22 and Theo Hovord in the 10 & Under boys 100m backstroke with a time of 1:14.62.

Great job to the fantastic swim programs around Michigan that prepared these athletes to excel on the big stage! We look forward to continued success and fun at future zone meets.

Thanks for helping us raise the standard!
