Overall, numbers show growth. The LSC has promoted programming with a focus on learn-to-swim initiatives, an area of important growth for the LSC.
2. Strengthen the Organization: BoD and committee participation results can be seen in camps, clinics, and communication. LSC Administration is recognized with the best in USA Swimming, providing the BoD and committees with excellent support and follow-through. This bodes well for the strength of the LSC.
3. Elevate Performance: By most performance measures this past long course season, Michigan Swimming athletes are competing well at the highest levels of each layer of elite swimming. By promoting community and focusing on providing opportunities to bring Team Michigan together, elevating athlete performance is on the front burner!
4. Inspire Members and Fans: With enthusiasm, education, striving for and recognizing excellence across the LSC as our focus, Michigan Swimming members will be inspired to reach their highest aspirations. We will celebrate this year’s accomplishments and work towards more celebrations in the years to come!
2026 Michigan Select Camp Recap
Our goal with the August 2026 Michigan Select Camp was to “Elevate Athlete Awareness” in preparation for 2028 and 2032 Olympic Trials and beyond. The balance of athletes was great: about half of the athletes are aiming for the 2028 Trials, and the other half opening their eyes infor 2032. The camp committee took time to plan a well-rounded experience, and a follow-up survey indicated that each presentation of the camp was well-received. We are looking to build on this camp for the future, both elite travel training camps and elite 11-14 y/o training camps. We are also working on posting notes and presentations on the Michigan Swimming website (GC is learning about video production as you read this). Special thanks to the Camps and Clinics team for collaborating and creating this Team Michigan building experience!
LSC Leaders Call Highlights, 10 September 2026
1. USA Swimming Grants are now open, and the deadline for applications is November 15, 2026. They
are focused on awarding grants to both youth and adult learn-to-swim initiatives.
2. New Club Success was the main topic of discussion. USA Swimming offers many resources to help new teams become successful. LSC’s should recognize and support new clubs as they learn to navigate the USA Swimming support system.
