Last night, Michigan Trucking Association awarded 2021 Driver of the Year to Edward Siemaszko III of Davis Cartage Company, Corunna, MI and named Old Dominion Freight Line, headquartered in Thomasville, NC, as its Excellence in Fleet Safety Grand Champion.
2021 Driver of the Year
Ed Siemaszkohas driven more than 2.1 million miles in his 20-year driving career, 17 with Davis Cartage. He is also a proud and distinguished veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was chosen from among nine other nominated drivers based on his accident-free driving record, over-the-road mileage, customer service and professionalism. This is the second consecutive Driver of the Year win for Davis Cartage.

MTA also proudly honors Old Dominion (OD) Freight Line as its Excellence in Fleet Safety Grand Champion. The nearly 90-year-old national LTL freight leader and global transportation company currently operates 248 service centers across the United States. The award recognizes those carriers that create and foster a culture of safety. OD was chosen from among 12 Fleet Safety Award winners based on miles driven, number of accident-free miles and specific best practice safety protocols undertaken by the company.
Finalist drivers and fleet safety winners were honored earlier as part of MTA’s Safety on the Road Program. Each driver was recognized as a 2021 Driver of the Year finalist at his home terminal in front of company owners, management, peers and family. Fleet safety winners were also honored at their respective terminals as awards were presented to safety directors and company officers.
