The Plastic Detox
Free Community Screening

Microplastics are now found in our bodies, in the air we breathe, and in the water we drink. What does that mean for our health and our future?

The Plastic Detox is a powerful Netflix original documentary that explores how everyday plastic chemicals may be affecting human fertility and long term health. Following a 90 day experiment led by environmental epidemiologist Dr. Shanna Swan, six couples remove common plastics from their daily lives to measure whether reducing exposure improves fertility markers and overall wellbeing.

The film highlights the dramatic decline in global sperm counts over the past fifty years and examines the broader health impacts of endocrine disrupting chemicals found in food containers, synthetic clothing, personal care products, and household items. It combines rigorous science, human stories, and practical steps that individuals can begin implementing immediately.

We are honored to welcome Susan Keefe, Southern California Director of Beyond Plastics, who will introduce the film and share her expertise. With more than thirty years of environmental leadership and advocacy, Susan brings valuable insight into the plastic crisis and the policy solutions needed to address it.

Following the screening, Ed Steinfeld, the Voice of Laguna, will lead a community discussion with Susan and additional panel participants. Together, they will explore what this issue means locally and how individuals and communities can respond thoughtfully and effectively.

This special event is offered free to the community.
