Everyone deserves to feel protected. SouthFair makes that possible by revitalizing a community with affordable housing which benefits low- to moderate-income families. Although SouthFair services predominately people of color, we are committed to revitalizing South Dallas by giving everyday people opportunities at homeownership and protection.

For the past five years, SouthFair annually celebrated and acknowledged Homeownership Month. For the past twenty years ,The Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has celebrated the idea and reality of homeownership for all. This is what we embody at our core. SouthFair is excited to share with you just one of our many homeowners that has made history not only for SouthFair but within his family. 

Ke'Andre Nash

A Dallas-native, Ke'Andre Nash is not just a dreamer and father, but he follows through by being a do-er. In 2017, he became SouthFair's youngest homebuyer, at 20 years old! Mama’s cooking: pork chops, green beans and mac and cheese

Family –

My mama is my support system, always asking “what do you want to do Dre?” and keeping her expectations. She expects me to be smart and do the right thing and still lets me make my own decisions. There's also my pawpaw who instilled in me to hustle, hustle, hustle and never let anyone know what’s in your pockets. Taught me to manage money and think about myself first.

Famous person you would most like to meet-

LeBron James, I look up to LeBron so much because they expected him to be great from such a young age. To be the chosen one at 13 years old, knowing everyone is rooting for you or preying on your downfall, I can relate. I have a special needs brother so I always knew it was on me.

Words that describe you best –

Dependable, calculated, detailed, loving, peaceful, punctual

In your spare time you . . . –

I'm a father, but I hoop and I’m a gamer. I'm also a car-enthusiast.

If you’ve learned one thing in life, it is . . . –

No other help is coming. This is about accountability. Every decision, everything you do, you can’t blame everybody else. A lot of people don’t know, if you do research on the problems, you’d be more okay with dealing with that stress. Also, everybody has their own problems. Start generalizing your problems. Everyone usually personalizes it but in reality, a lot of people are going through the same things. Instead of internalizing and swallowing those problems, assemble a team to help you get through it.

What are your hopes/desires for SouthFair and the South Dallas community?

I want minorities to pay attention to what’s happening. There’s so much money to be made. SouthFair isn’t letting investors in to take over the community. Meaning you can obtain a 100% return on your investments. The impossible is possible.

My mother is the reason why I have so much drive and passion. Seeing her thrive is what keeps my going. She’s been "thugging" it with the kid ever since I was born. She’s a good support system.

Famous person you would most like to meet- 

LeBron James 100% his drive on and off-court is truly phenomenal. He entire circle are his friends who he is loyal to.

Words that describe you best – 

Adaptable; friendly, someone once told me “I’ve never met a stranger” so they know that they belong whenever I’m with them.

In your spare time you . . . – 

Shop, thrift. I'm an HEB-enthusiast; I can spend an entire day there. Playing basketball and watching sports.

If you’ve learned one thing in life, it is . . . – 

Not trying to be cliché, but Nike’s slogan of “Just Do It.” Similar to what I’d tell underclassmen: go for the leadership positions. I held back as a freshman and sophomore yet I had so many ideas. Only God gave you the idea and nobody can do you the way you can do it. So many people are attached to your idea, if you don’t do it, you’re neglecting someone who is waiting for you.

What are your hopes/desires for SouthFair and the South Dallas community?

South Dallas is a rich neighborhood but sometimes it's hard to see that in the reflection. Schools are always closing. I wish we all saw the potential we have and believe in ourselves. Gentrification is a real threat; other people see how much potential we have but we need to see it too. Leaders (principals, trustees, mayors, business owners) should come together to truly see how much money we’re making and how much culture is here. If South Dallas were gone, Dallas would not be able to thrive. We could go far if we saw what was in us.

For SouthFair, all the work that is being done is absolutely phenomenal. I hope it gets recognized for what it’s doing. Much like Pleasant Grove. Ms. Annie’s been there and needs to be uplifted and recognized.
