The John Robert Boswell Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding University of Mississippi student majoring in Chemical Engineering.  

A native of Clinton, Mississippi, Maria Zamora Corena graduated from Clinton High School with Honors. At Clinton High School, she was a member of the Biomedical Research program, the Academic team, and Latin club. Currently, she attends the University of Mississippi as a Junior in the Chemical Engineering program with a minor in Manufacturing. As a member of the Center of Manufacturing Excellence, she serves as the Junior Chemical Engineering representative in the Student Advisory Board. She works part-time while being a full-time student and currently interns in Memphis. 
Established by his 1968 Murrah High School classmates, the Dave Cannada Memorial Scholarship is awarded each year to two outstanding Murrah seniors who embody the academic and leadership skills of Dave Cannada.

At Murrah, Shyuanna Rodgers (left) served on the student council, was sports editor of the student newspaper, class vice president and student body vice president, joined the Debate team as a public forum debater, and tutored her fellow students. She will attend Jackson State in the fall.

Jayden Smith Rodgers (right) served as president of the City of Jackson Mayor’s Youth Council, co-captain of the Lady Mustangs soccer team, and participated in Mu Alpha Theta, the Speech and Debate team, and the Base Pair biomedical research program at UMMC. She plans to attend Mississippi State.
