We love training new volunteers for our water quality project! We welcome Danielle Lackenbauer and Sharon Kearns to team 2 in southern Pocahontas County! Thank you all volunteers! While testing, we got to see a Bald Eagle flying by at Watoga, then it rested in a Sycamore tree above us. We don't know if it appreciates our efforts or not, but we appreciate the opportunity to get out and share the river with him. Note - as of last week, there was still snow along the river and the Greenbrier River Trail with slides but if we can get to the river, we'll still test in all weather.

Do you remember how dry last summer was? The Greenbrier River Watershed Association is pleased to sponsor a Rain Barrel Workshop at our Watershed Celebration Day at Lost World Caverns on April 18th, 12:00 - 1:00 pm. Thanks to a grant from WV Rivers, we are able to give the workshop attendees a free rain barrel, and only paying for admission to the event. Please note - we have a limited number available and first priority will be for people who have not received one from us in the past. Your name will be on a list at the event for check off, confirming that you signed up in advance. A water diverter kit is available if you need one. This method is by drilling a hole into your downspout to insert the diverter which directs water to the barrel. Please indicate in the sign up sheet if you will use the downspout diverter method or not so we can plan on how many we will need, as not everyone uses this method. Rain Barrel Sign up link

Come see us at this event and learn about our water quality project and how to get involved!

Wild Virginia ~ Along with our partners, alliances, and citizens like you, we press on in the fight against fracked gas pipelines in our region. The Mountain Valley Pipeline poses a great risk to our forests and surrounding communities. We are also working to improve habitat connectivity for wildlife throughout Virginia and to ensure that all of our waterways are fully protected in accordance with the law.

Stop the Money Pipeline ~ If we can stop the flow of money, we can stop the flow of oil. In early 2020, thirty-two organizations came together to form the Stop the Money Pipeline coalition. We stand on the shoulders of years of movement work pressuring financial institutions to act on climate.
