Quarter 4 2024 Recap

Business & Streetscape News

Saluhall and Meeting Place Establishes Itself as Much Needed "Third Space"

In a recent SF Business Times piece about where Saluhall, IKEA, and Meeting Place stand six months after opening the article finds, "Saluhall acts like a more dynamic version of the 'third space' between home and work that Starbucks used to be: a comfortable landing spot for open-ended hours of work or cafe conversations — in other words, a literal 'meeting place.' Add to that an eclectic all-day menu, booze, and the shopping potential of Ikea next door, and you have a recipe ripe for customers to find ways to work into their weekly routines."

Saluhall also hosts several fun non-food events, such as a trivia night and this season's holiday maker's market featuring local vendors. Saluhall also partnered with Mid Market CBD and the SOMA Community Collaborative to bring Santa, the Mrs. and his elves to a meet and greet with neighborhood families last week (see below).

Keep an eye on Saluhall's happenings page for more upcoming events.

Star Falls Into Place at Mint Plaza

Aurum, by the artist duo HYBYCOZO now shines in Mint Plaza. Installed with support from the San Francisco Arts Commission, its golden color and name harken back to the Gold Rush era. The old Mint, for which the Plaza is named, was built in 1874 to serve Gold Rush miners. Today both the historic Mint and the Plaza are available to rent for special events. Check out both spaces here.

Former Bank Building to Be Converted into Pod Apartments

At 12 Mint Plaza, the City recently approved 30 pod rental units by Brownstone Housing. The communal-style housing caters to residents seeking to save on living expenses, with some involved in startup ventures. Some have praised the location for its affordability and convenience according to Hoodline
