AWESOME VIBES IN AUGUST WITH SCOPE! As campers are returning home or finishing up their last days at camp, we still feel the maximum awesomeness and appreciation for our supporters and partners who continue to make summer camp opportunities accessible to ALL children.

DORI ALPER SCOPE Associate Board Member Camp Che-Na-Wah alumna Dori Alper reached out in 2018 to get more involved in SCOPE and we’ve been so lucky to benefit from her enthusiasm and innovative ideas ever since! Dori’s professional experience working with children and social work background has given her a unique understanding of the work we do and further fuels her dedication to helping us fulfill our mission. Dori started out by designing a SCOPE brochure while volunteering in the SCOPE office, and in her role as the Engagement Co-Chair of the SCOPE Associate Board, she focuses on increasing outreach and engage new audiences. In January, she teamed up with her friends at bamboo to launch Sweat for SCOPE, a week-long online fitness initiative. The classes were so successful this supporter-led series has run two more times, each time expanding class offerings and reaching new individuals and groups. Get ready, who knows what amazingness is in store with Sweat for SCOPE 4.0! With camp in its last week, Dori took time off from her year-round job to infuse and empower Baco and Che-Na-Wah youth with her magnetic energy and even dropped some SCOPE awareness into her time at camp. We are excited to have Dori's spirit lighting up our SCOPE efforts everywhere she goes! SCOPE YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

SYDNEY TAVROFF SCOPE Junior Leader Camp Canadenenis CIT Sydney Tavroff embodies her camp’s values of inclusivity, sharing, and fun when it comes to giving back. Last year Sydney started her business, Beaded for Better, creating stylish mask necklaces and donating proceeds to a different charity each month. Earlier this year she connected with SCOPE to expand her philanthropic interests to include helping other children gain access to the same life-changing opportunities she’s had at Canadnesis. Sydney tapped into the giving power of her home, school, and camp connections with a Super Bowl Box fundraiser and an online and in-person shopping event at Mixology Oceanside with much success! We’re excited to see what other creative gives back ideas Sydney has as she continues to make strides for SCOPE! YOUTH & TEEN LEADERSHIP

Camp Oty'Okwa, Ohio SCOPE Midwest

At Camp Oty'Okwa, there’s nothing better than spending the summer in the great outdoors – swimming, hiking, camping under the stars, fishing, making music, canoeing, creating art, and making s’mores by the fireside! Located just one hour southeast of Columbus, Ohio in the Hocking Hills region, Oty’Okwa fosters an environment of positive role-modeling through small groups to help children gain confidence and self-esteem. Each camper at Camp Oty’Okwa works with their counselor and cabin group to plan their week. It is their hope that these qualities will continue to produce results that last a lifetime.
