Hafa Adai Catherine,

In the midst of the hustle and bustle that this time of the year brings, this is just a quick note to let you know that first-quarter dues invoices have been sent via email. In accordance with the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993, the Chamber gives notice that Guam Chamber dues are not eligible for deductions as a charitable contribution but may be deducted as an ordinary and necessary business expense. A portion of dues allocable to lobbying is not deductible. The non-deductible portion is 30%. Please let us know if you have questions or concerns. We truly appreciate your continued partnership and support of the Chamber.

I hope that you are enjoying good company, school holiday productions, joyful office gatherings, and more this holiday season. The season can also be a difficult time for some, please share the Holiday Crisis Hotline with anyone who can use an ear or is feeling blue: (671) 647-8833.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Onward together,

Catherine Castro

President

This Holiday Season has many residents concerned about inflation. Prices at the checkout counter seem to be the main topic of discussion at dining tables and gatherings throughout the island.

Businesses have the same concerns. In October, the Guam Chamber of Commerce sent a flash survey to our membership to gauge if inflation was hurting their businesses. Of 116 companies that responded, 97% said that inflation was of high concern for their respective businesses. The areas where inflation impacts businesses the most are the cost of goods, utilities, labor, and wages.

We have so many great local small businesses on Guam - here are some ways that you can help support them:

  • Go to their establishment and purchase something or shop at their online store and pick up in store!
  • Recommend them to others - word of mouth is powerful!
  • Comment on their social media posts - with a word, short note, or emoji!
  • Share their social media post!
  • Give them a good rating or leave a review about them on Facebook, Trip Advisor, Yelp or you get it, right?
  • Cool! Thank you for shopping and supporting your local Guam small businesses!
