Investing in our kids' financial education is like giving them a key to a successful future. When children learn how to manage money from an early age, they become more prepared to be better consumers, avoid debt, and make smart financial choices as they grow up.
As parents, it's up to us to start teaching them these valuable skills and values early on. If you're wondering when to start talking to your kids about money, don't worry! We've put together some helpful tips tailored for kids from preschool to high school to make it easy for you to start the conversation.
We all want the future generation to be successful. Let's give our kids the tools they need to make wise financial decisions, save for the future, and become savvy consumers. By teaching them about earning, saving, and planning ahead, we're giving them skills that will benefit them for life.

phish·ing /fISHiNG/
noun
-
the fraudulent practice of sending emails or other messages purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information.
|
With email phishing, deciphering what’s real from what’s fake can be a challenge. Our inboxes are stuffed with emails fighting to get our attention and get us to take some action. But how to identify what’s legitimate takes some cyber-smarts.
Research shows email is the primary method of spreading 92% of all malware, and the U.S. is the target of 86% of all email phishing attacks.
Whether at home or at work, email phishing is relentless, but being aware of traits they have in common can be a powerful tool.

Embracing Mid Oregon's culture of "people helping people," we have partnered with the Bend Chamber's Workforce Initiative, Bend Redmond Habitat for Humanity, and local builders Hiatus Homes, and Cascade Precision Homes to help with the Central Oregon affordable housing crisis.
As part of the Workforce Initiative, the Chamber has launched a new, low-interest loan, funded by an initial donation of $500,000 from Providence Health Plan.
The loan provides early-stage capital at a low interest rate to lower the cost of building a home, making it more affordable for local mid-market buyers.
The first project using this loan is in SE Bend and will be ready for occupancy in early winter. The new home will be permanently affordable, available to households earning up to 120% of the area median income (AMI). Additionally, the residence will be deed-restricted to ensure future buyers also meet income requirements to keep it available to mid-market families who live and work in Bend.
The fund will be managed by Mid Oregon and will be used as an 18-24-month revolving loan at 3% interest.
