Fall Stated Meeting

In-Person & Zoom Registration Now Open!

The Fall Stated Meeting will be held at Metter Presbyterian Church (611 South Lewis St) on Thursday, October 8 at 10 am. We will worship together and carry out the necessary business of the meeting then will enjoy a buffet lunch at Bevrick’s Restaurant just down the street from the church. The lunch will feature a presentation by the Rev. Dana Waters, a minister member of our presbytery, who is the Presbyterian Foundation’s Ministry Relations Officer for the Southeast (AL, FL, GA, MS, and PR). In Our Churches

Christian Sympathy

Our sympathy is extended to Elder Linda Nelms, St. Simons, who chairs our presbytery’s Education and Training Team, upon the death of her husband, the Rev. Stephen Nelms. Stephen was a retired minister member of Northeast Georgia Presbytery who worshiped with Linda at St. Simons Presbyterian Church and graciously assisted our presbytery when called upon.

Our prayers are with Deanie Strength and her husband, Joey, following the death of Joey’s mother, Susan Pitts, in Alabama.

Comings & Goings

We welcome PC(USA) Teaching Elder the Rev. Dr. Stacy Martin to Savannah Presbytery following her transfer from Baltimore Presbytery. Stacy and her husband are making Savannah their permanent home, and she is currently serving as Interim Pastor of Ascension Lutheran Church (ELCA). Her ministry and professional experience includes parish ministry, nonprofit leadership, healthcare management, and community service. She is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary and Sterling College and also holds an MBA from Eastern University.

The PC(USA), ELCA, RCA, and UCC are in full communion with one another. Learn more: https://pcusa.org/resource/formula-agreement

Rev. Will Myers, his wife Nimmi, and their two children are settling into Statesboro, where Will is beginning his call as installed pastor of First Presbyterian Church. He previously served as Campus Minister for Presbyterian Student Fellowship at West Virginia University and as pastor of Frenchtown Presbyterian Church in New Jersey. He is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary and Wartburg College.

September marks the beginning of Rev. Nadine Ellsworth-Moran’s call as installed Associate Pastor of St. Simons Presbyterian Church. She most recently served at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church in Augusta. Nadine is a graduate of Union Presbyterian Seminary, holds an additional master’s degree in European Studies, and is a trained Spiritual Director through Columbia Theological Seminary. Ordained in the PC(USA) in 2013, she is also a published writer.

Rev. Whit Malone is now serving as Parish Associate for Congregational Care at St. Simons Presbyterian Church. A member of the Presbytery of Western North Carolina, Whit brings 40 years of ministry experience in churches across Indiana, Kentucky, Iowa, and North Carolina. He and his wife, Kris, now call St. Simons home.

With the Rev. Dr. Jim Jackson concluding his service as Interim Associate Pastor at St. Simons Presbyterian Church, he is now available for pulpit supply. His contact information, along with others available to serve, can be found in the online Pulpit Supply list.

Visits Around the Presbytery

This summer, Deanie visited Henry Memorial Presbyterian Church in Dublin, where she joined a Zoom Sunday School class that included four homebound members. She also learned more about the church’s security system, which allows staff to monitor the building remotely.

At the end of August, Deanie and Mary worshiped with First Presbyterian Church of Brunswick and stayed for a lively church picnic. With no choir currently in place, members are invited to gather around the organ for the final hymn. Deanie and Mary joined in, offering a joyful reminder that worship is truly the work of all the people.

In September, Deanie attended Sunday School and worship at Flemington Presbyterian Church, where the congregation was celebrating both the birth of a baby and the wedding of a young military couple.
